About Atria Bay Spring Village

Atria Bay Spring Village is an assisted living and independent living community in Barrington, Rhode Island. The facility houses residents across multiple units, including a memory care section for those with dementia or cognitive decline.

Families describe a community with physical appeal, well-maintained spaces, attractive common areas, and good meals, where staff responsiveness varies significantly by unit and individual. Positive reviews highlight warmth from admissions and leadership staff (particularly named individuals like Sharon Glaude and Susan Lehman), meaningful engagement for some residents, and thoughtful care tailored to individual needs. Several families report their relatives thriving after initial transitions, with one noting improved physical mobility and reduced symptoms. However, critical reviews cite serious gaps: inconsistent help with personal hygiene in memory care, promised activities not materializing for certain units, falls without prompt discovery, unmet dietary accommodations, and safety concerns. One family wrote, "he was not being cared for the way they said they would." The inconsistency appears tied to unit assignment and staffing variation rather than facility-wide practice.

Atria Bay Spring Village holds a 4.5/5 rating across 38 Google reviews, though the underlying scores cluster at extremes, many five-star reviews alongside multiple one-star accounts. Families considering placement should ask specifically about care protocols, supervision frequency, and activity accessibility within the specific unit where their loved one would reside.

Atria team was very thorough and Julia coordinated all of the last minute tasks that required completion to allow our mom to get settled in on an unbelievable tight schedule.
Thank you to Julia as well as Margret and all staff that made this happen. Without their fine efforts I’m not sure mom would have had the seamless transition.
So much appreciated.
Thank you.

I highly recommend Atria. They have been an absolute blessing, and I would trust them to care for me someday.

My aunt has lived in Memory Care at Atria for the past three years. Within just a few months of moving in, she no longer needed her walker and her head drop syndrome was completely eliminated, which greatly enhanced her quality of life.

The Activities Director is truly a beautiful soul who keeps the residents engaged, active, and smiling. Watching the residents enjoy activities like bingo has brought me to tears laughing.

Holidays have special events, there is always something going on at Atria! The atmosphere is filled with joy, patience, good humor, and great memories.

The staff are consistently attentive, compassionate, and remarkably patient. Even after answering the same question multiple times, they remain calm, kind, and reassuring. They do an incredible job of keeping residents comfortable, happy, and respected.

My aunt's room is always clean, and the residents are consistently well-groomed and appropriately dressed. Laundry is handled individually rather than mixed together, and although clothing is not always labeled, her belongings reliably find their way back to her room.

The dining experience deserves special recognition as well. The cook does a fantastic job, and the daily menu choices honestly make me jealous! Every meal looks delicious, and family members are welcome to join their loved ones for meals, which makes visits even more enjoyable.

Most importantly, Atria provides a safe and caring environment where loved ones receive the support they need. Medications are managed properly, personal care needs are addressed, and families can focus on spending meaningful time with their loved ones rather than carrying the full burden of caregiving. It allows you to return to being a daughter, niece, spouse, or friend—and simply enjoy your relationship with the person you love.

I am incredibly grateful for the care, compassion, and dignity Atria provides every day.

If a quarter of a star was a choice, that would be more accurate. My 92 year old father spent 5 miserable weeks there before his death. He fell on a Saturday, was only found because his 100 year old roommate was overheard telling another resident that there was a man on the floor. Admitted to the hospital later that day and died 2 days later. Went to Atria to meet with the director, Sue, to ask about the incident, and probably sat there for 15 mins. before I had to ask her if she wanted to know how my father was. After stumbling on her words I told her that he was DEAD! What a friggin joke that the director didn’t even ask how he was. Three simple words “how is he”. I got nothing!!!! Director claimed EMS is called daily for falls, that she can’t keep track of everyone! Seriously? Isn’t that your GD job? Overnight care is a farce, bathroom always smelt of urine, so I ended up cleaning it every time I visited. Lost his laundry basket the 2nd week he was there. I could go on and on, but I won’t. Absolute worst decision we ever made! We payed close to $8000/month for him to fall and die of sepsis 5 weeks in! I wouldn’t put my worst enemy in that dump!
