Our family had an extremely disappointing experience. What began as concerns about a vulnerable resident’s care turned into months of unanswered questions, frustration, and a lack of transparency. Families deserve honest communication, accountability, and confidence that their loved ones’ well-being comes first. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I also encourage families to request all available records from Texas HHSC or the facility itself, as the online inspection history alone may not provide the full context of an investigation or its findings.

My loved one has been in their care since right after the change in ownership. They are very good about notification and discussion of issues and the staff really cares. They have gone above and beyond with medication and including family members in events and conversations to help smooth things as they progress. It always smells and looks nice, and the setting makes it feel like a hill country getaway.

I only leave reviews when I feel strongly that other families should be informed, and after my family’s experience with the memory care side of this facility, I believe people considering any assisted living or memory care placement should understand how important it is to independently review state records and complaint investigations before placing a loved one. Most families do not realize that an active license status or surface level online information does not necessarily provide the full picture of a facility’s history, complaint investigations, corrective actions, or oversight concerns. I certainly did not understand how difficult and confusing this process could become until I lived through it myself. I would strongly encourage families to request and review state investigation records, Statements of Deficiencies, and Plans of Correction through the Texas HHS system for any facility they are considering. Ask detailed questions about how changes in condition are documented, how provider communication is handled, how escalation decisions are made, and what procedures are followed when residents show signs of decline. Placing a loved one into memory care is one of the hardest decisions a family can make. Families deserve transparency, responsiveness, accountability, and a clear understanding of how these systems work before they are forced to navigate them during a crisis.
