I want to take a moment to recognize Tammy in admissions at Amelia rehabilitation center. While my family and I were very much disappointed with the overall medical care and communication pertaining to my loved one’s health, Tammy was the one person we could count on. I often told her that she should not be responsible for the whole building, but there were multiple times where I would see her do just that. She treated us with kindness and compassion, and was always there to listen to any concerns we had. She was the one positive experience throughout all of the negative. Her dedication and her work ethic does not go unnoticed. I truly hope that the facility will strive to make improvements while recognizing what an asset Tammy brings to the company.

Tammy Welschlin has been amazing. My Grandma was in Lynchburg & the patient advocate refused to do an authorization for Amelia rehab. Tammy did that for us & my Grandma is now in Amelia. It was a horrible experience & Tammy at Amelia Health & Rehab came thru for us and worked it out. Im so thankful for her. If you need someone to guide you through a difficult process, ask for Tammy.

I was put in there for 2 days because I called and left. I couldn't breathe in the nurse or whatever she said she was said it was just a panic attack well it wasn't I had the flu very bad. I would go hours without anybody checking on me they never brought me food it was absolutely horrible. It's a large place with things to do I'm sure that I didn't see it's because they left me in my room and half of my side was broken so I couldn't get around on my own. I would never ever stick any family member in there Make sure you check out before you stick people in places like this because if they're not what they look to be

I’m giving this 5 star review for the Activities department at ARHC, lead by director Terry Rust. My mother has been a resident at ARHC OVER 1.5 years and enjoys bingo, Java music club, birthday celebrations and seasonal parties and games. The team members are caring, compassionate, creative and fun. They bring light and laughter to the residents daily.

This place is extremely understaffed, as a result the elderly residents are being neglected. It is disheartening to know the state of this healthcare center has been continuous for several years now. I currently have an elderly relative who is suffering with advanced dementia. Thankfully my relative is visited daily by family members and someone is always present advocating for the basic care needed. However during these visits several unsettling behaviors have been observed. 1. Residents are left to sit in soiled clothing and bedding in excess of 4 hours when the center's policy is to perform checks every 2 hrs. 2. Residents are left waiting hours for assistance to travel to the community room for socialization. 3. One resident became wedged between her bed and the furniture and repeatedly cried for help for over 30 minutes before a nurse from another wing of the center was passing through and alerted by the cries and ran to assist the resident. 4. Residents are not provided with simple necessities, such as clean socks for days on end. 5. The staff is given inadequate training, if any, as to how to care for residents with declining cognitive health issues, such as Dementia, resulting in them being verbally abused. Iwould continue further, but I am sure the Center's blantant disregard for treating our elderly community with human dignity is evident. One might say that the Center needs new management, however this issue has been present and seems to be on going eventhough there has been a change of Center Director's in the past few years. If the issue is within the budget preventing the hiring of additional full time staff, it would be beneficial to both the over worked and overwhelmed staff and the residents if part time staff could be hired during the hours when the majority of the residents are active. This addition of staffing would lessen the burden on the present employees and ensure our elderly relatives are given adequate care. Lastly, I will state that if changes aren't implemented expeditiously to priortize the care of our elderly relatives this center is headed towards legal charges involving elder abuse and neglect, in addition to possibly losing funding and closure of a much needed facility within Amelia County.
