I came to ER around 2 am and I was well taken care of. They were very detailed in their care and gave me plenty of blankets to stay warm. ☺️ I also think the front desk was quick in registering me despite my frustration in the beginning of needing to see a doctor. Thank you team!

i went to this hospital in daly city CA in august of 2021 because i had passed out in a hotel parking lot so my friends called an ambulance. when i was at the hospital i was asked by the dr if i was covid vaccinated and i told him no. he then went on to go off on me and berate me and told me that im the reason people like his co workers and their families are dying and that i should be ashamed of myself, that i dont care about my community, and that im selfish. i went off on him right back and told him he has no right to tell me what to do with my body and that he better watch out before i blast him all over the internet. i wish i recorded that interaction, it definitely would have made national news and i would have sued the hospital.

I want to share my horrible experience at Seton Emergency Room so others can make informed decisions about their care.<br><br>I arrived at Seton before dawn after suffering through a night of severe abdominal pain. I spent approximately 8 hours in the ER. I was given anti-nausea medication, had blood work done that showed an elevated white blood cell count, and underwent a CT scan.<br><br>The most frustrating part was waiting roughly 5 hours for someone to discuss the CT results. During that time, my family and I repeatedly asked nurses for updates. At one point, a nurse returned with a printout and simply told us, "The CT was clear." No physician came to explain the findings, discuss possible causes of my symptoms, or answer questions. I was discharged with a diagnosis of viral gastroenteritis.<br><br>After returning home, I continued to have low-grade fevers for several days. I followed up with my primary care physician, who ordered a contrast CT scan. By the time that scan was performed at Mills-Peninsula, it had been about 10 days since my Seton ER visit.<br><br>The CT technician immediately alerted medical staff, and I was sent directly to the emergency room and admitted to the hospital at Mills-Peninsula. I was informed that I had a perforated appendix and had likely been living with it for days. A sizeable abscess had formed, which fortunately appeared to have contained the infection and prevented it from spreading throughout my abdomen.<br><br>As if that experience were not stressful enough, two weeks after my Seton visit I received an $18,000 bill stating that there was "no insurance on file." During registration, the front desk had specifically taken my Blue Shield insurance card and entered the information into my record. I am now spending additional time trying to resolve the billing issue with the hospital.<br><br>The combination of the prolonged wait, lack of communication regarding my CT results, delayed diagnosis of a perforated appendix requiring hospitalization, and the insurance billing problems has made this one of the most distressing healthcare experiences I have ever had.
