The company provides home health for families. My Mom has extensive ulcer wounds on both legs. They have to be cared for 3 times a week. She has had so much problems with these vicious wounds. Accent health care has been servicing her wounds for a few months now. They are very reliable and dependable in regards to care. The only thing is that these wounds are very painful, and stick to the skin. The consistency in care is the only concern that I have. My Mom is a very hard patient, only because she cannot tolerate any type of pain. Sometimes you get care where the time is taken to carefully remove the bandages because of the sticking, and sometimes you don’t. It comes with the care. The company is very responsive and always follow through. Would I recommend them to others, yes for sure! Empathy and patience is a huge thing when handling the elderly, and not everyone is the same in those regards. That is the medical field in general.

i’m taking care of an elderly neighbor who lost their speech. the therapist would visit while i was at work and one day i asked the neighbor if the therapist was still visiting and she said no. (she had limited speech so no is what she sometimes says for everything) i shared this with the therapist and she said she was still visiting and i chose to believe the therapist. what she didn’t tell me is that she discharged the neighbor that same day. because of the questioning, i don’t know. but i sent several texts in the weeks after which she would read and wouldn’t even respond let alone inform that she discharged the patient. i had to call the office to find out she had been discharged without any communication with me(her POA). it’s not abuse but she treated me with disdain for wanting to protect an elderly neighbor. I’ve already steered my boss away from them who nearly signed up a member of her church and i would steer everyone away if i could.

This place was a colossal failure in their care. First of all, I called multiple times to talk to their administrator Betsy Keefover, who apparently does not have a direct line or voicemail to be able to speak and relay our concerns to her. Anytime I called I had to leave a message with someone on the other side who clearly was not taking down the message. The reason I know this, within 10-15 minutes of my hanging up, someone would call back and say “hi, you have a message for Betsy, can you give me this message.” I spent 15 minutes talking to the lady before her who was making “mmhmm” noises only clearly she wasn’t taking the message. Second, they abruptly and unprofessionally terminated their care with the excuse that the patient, my father, “hasn’t been seen face to face by a doctor.” This was wrong because my dad was seen by the in home doctor, the nurse practitioner who works with the doctor and we were able to have him see the family doctor he has been seeing for decades. So their lying and their lack of communication with us shows me that they don’t care for the patient. My dad is a former bodybuilder and when they were working on setting him up with a PT, I specifically asked them to send a male who is able to stand a 240 pound man up because the goal was for him to walk after his illness. They sent me a barely five foot, very small woman who was a waste of our time and a huge setback to my father’s care. They were not flexible, they didn’t like that they had to drive out to where we live and instead of not taking my dad’s case from the get go, they elected to waste our time. We got nothing from them but lack of courtesy, lack of communication, and the icing on the cake, a lack of professionalism. If you have a family member who needs home health care, try Franciscan, they have a better team there and they are very professional and very caring. Accent care home health is lacking in every area possible to manage and care for patients. If I can give them a minus score I would. I am making sure that anyone I know who needs home health care does not have to go thru the unfortunate issues that we endured with them. If a place that is supposed to care for patients can abruptly drop the patient- and by the way, the we my dad was dropped was the PT sending me a message “we have to terminate, tell your dad to do his exercises.” Yes- that’s exactly how this place that doesn’t deserve the term “health” and “care” in their name terminated with my dad. Please if you care about your loved one- go with a different place. Our families are far too important and dear to us to inflict AccentCare Home Health on them.
