My sister is a resident at Abbott Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She has been at Abbott for nearly seven months. I am fortunate that Abbott opened its doors to my sister Pat. In her time there, Pat is relaxed and improving I n every way. Pat is wheelchair bound and suffers cognitive decline. Abbott is immaculate with staff and nurses who are kind and caring. My husband and I can sleep at night knowing that Pat is at Abbott.

My dad is a long term resident who has been there for 3 years. Abbott feels like home, both for him and for me. Everyone has such a big heart and is caring, including the administrative staff, nurses/aides, and kitchen staff. When my dad went to the hospital recently, his nurses FaceTimed him to check on him. It truly shows how much they care and how much we consider them family. The social worker, Naomi, is very caring and supportive of his needs. The rehab department is very knowledgeable and attentive. The activities department make him smile everyday by checking in on him and bringing him snacks. The aides are always there for him, responding to his call light within seconds. I lost my mom 6 years ago at a different nursing facility, and I wish I knew about Abbott back then. Thank you Abbott staff for becoming our family.

My elderly mother was placed here after hospitalization for stomach flu. Her oxygen level was not high enough for discharge. I could not contact anyone. No one would answer the phone or return messages. Finally I was told my mother could not walk or speak. I arrived on a Friday night and was able to walk in and find my mother. She greeted me with a big hug and "Thank God." Her roommate told me she had been taken off oxygen the previous day. I immediately got my mother up walking. She had not been permitted to go to the toilet. The staff assumed my mother's purse was locked in the social worker's office. She is actually in charge of the place. They had no access. On Monday I learned my mother's purse was actually in her room. Staff would walk around and people were screaming and no one seemed to care or respond. There was a woman wheeling herself around begging someone to help her get out of there. The food was plentiful and delicious. But the social worker tried to prevent me from taking my mother home. It was an absolute nightmare. I assume they are making money by keeping their numbers up. I took my mother home where she spent a lot of time in the bathroom. Thank God I got her out of that prison, and I am grateful that her roommate told me the truth.
