7500 Cooperative

7500 York Cooperative is an independent senior housing cooperative located in Edina, Minnesota. Built in 1978, it was the first senior cooperative of its kind in the United States, offering residents the benefits of homeownership combined with a maintenance-free living environment.

The community operates as a cooperative where member residents actively participate in the governance and care of their homes and community. Members are encouraged to engage in committees that oversee the physical structure, community amenities, and activities, or to serve on the Board of Directors. All members have the right to vote for board representatives and contribute suggestions to committees.

7500 York Cooperative does not provide in-unit medical, housekeeping, or home care services; residents who need such services are responsible for securing them independently. The community is designed to support active, independent living. For those requiring assisted living or memory care, Ebenezer's York Gardens is located on the cooperative campus and available as an option.

The community is smoke-free and pet-free, though service and support animals with proper documentation are welcomed.
