Assisted Living Community in South Bend, IN
Grand Emerald Place provides residents (and their pets) with a home-like environment, support for activities of daily living, and a community where they can thrive. We develop individual care plans to meet the needs of each resident, and a full-time registered nurse is available 24 hours a day to provide clinical oversight and coordination of care. Our residents flourish by engaging in a wide variety of stimulating activities, such as bingo, tai chi, movie nights, arts and crafts, and social gatherings. We enjoy outdoor activities like walking club, gardening club, and outdoor teas.
Understanding Senior Living Options
If you've decided that living alone is no longer safe or satisfying for yourself or a loved one, you can now select from more senior care options than prior generations. You might pay a contractor to make a home safer, or hire companion care to manage the challenges of day-to-day living. Or both.
You may also want to consider the benefits of a senior living community. If you do, you'll want to pay specific attention to current and future needs. Do you or a loved one want or need:
• A senior living community near home, or near that of a friend or family member? • Family involvement, like social nights and special gatherings? • Proximity to a favorite store or place of worship? • Special care for an acute illness or chronic condition?
Our care team can help you and your caregivers determine needs and recommend senior living solutions.
Independent Living
Some seniors choose independent living communities when they do not require care or wish to continue living alone, but want to develop social connections in a larger community. Residents enjoy the benefits of living in their own home without the burden of maintenance or upkeep and have access to amenities like dining and activities.
Skilled Nursing
On the other end of the spectrum, skilled nursing facilities are for those older adults who need care around the clock. The skilled staff is well equipped to handle a senior's medical and personal care needs. Residents usually move into skilled nursing facilities after a recent hospitalization, if they're suffering declining health or loss of mobility or have needs that are too challenging for an assisted living community.
Assisted Living
Assisted living communities strike the balance for many seniors by offering a moderate level of support for seniors who need help caring for themselves or their homes. Assisted living is best suited for people who do not require constant care, but need help with daily living tasks such as bathing and meal preparation. It also offers services like housekeeping and maintenance. Read these additional reasons why seniors choose assisted living and ask these questions to help determine if it's the right option for your family.
