Discover the benefits of living in a Good Samaritan Society community.
Whether you’re retiring, downsizing, or desiring a more maintenance-free lifestyle, the Good Samaritan Society offers a variety of independent living options in our communities that can also help if your health or personal needs change in the future.
While the types of living structures vary by community, our independent living options include multi-unit apartment buildings, as well as twin-homes or duplexes, casitas, cottages, and villas. Each living unit is yours to decorate and furnish as you want, so you can enjoy all the comforts of home without the stress of having to deal with repairs and maintenance.
A variety of services are available in our independent living communities that may be included in the monthly fee or a la carte, such as utilities, maintenance, housekeeping, meal programs, emergency response systems and transportation.
Here are a few benefits of living in a Good Samaritan Society independent living community:
• No more having to keep up with yard work, repairs, and other home maintenance tasks
• Having close friends and neighbors nearby for socializing and companionship
• Help with general housekeeping
• Optional meal programs are usually available, if you prefer not to cook
• Transportation services
• Added security of having other people nearby
• Spiritual, recreational, entertainment or wellness programs
• The peace of mind of being part of a community in which other housing or healthcare options are available, if needed
The independence you want and the support you need
As we age, day-to-day activities can become more challenging. With Good Samaritan Society assisted living, our staff is available to lend aid as needed, ranging from simple reminders to help with dressing, bathing, and other essential activities. Our assisted living communities offer residents the independence they want with the support they need.
Residents live in apartments or residential units and don’t require around-the-clock nursing supervision. However, staff members are accessible 24 hours a day.
Take the stress out of your daily routine
As your health changes, living on your own and needing daily assistance can be stressful on you, your family, and your friends. Assisted living communities may benefit seniors who:
• Need help with the “activities of daily living”, such as grooming, bathing, dressing, and managing medicine.
• Are no longer interested in or able to keep up with lawn care, snow removal or other home maintenance tasks
• Enjoy and value the security of having neighbors and staff members close by
• Need or want help with laundry and housekeeping
• Require three nutritionally balanced meals each day
• Prefer using transportation provided by others for shopping or entertainment
• Enjoy participating in spiritual, recreational, entertainment, and wellness programming
Memory Care Assisted Living
We provide the personalized care and support your loved one needs.
As memory loss progresses, being home alone can create potentially unsafe situations, such as forgetting to turn off the oven, getting disoriented during a walk outdoors, or missing scheduled medication times.
If you're questioning your loved one's safety at home, it may be time to consider a memory care assisted living community. This program provides specialized, compassionate care for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
There’s more to life than a diagnosis
Memory care assisted living combines the services of assisted living with the safety and recognizes the need to provide specialized care that promotes memory support to individuals who are living with irreversible dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Residents are encouraged to do as much as they can on their own, with assistance from staff as needed.
For example, your loved one may need reminders to take medications or eat but may not always need physical help doing those things. Or they might need assistance with daily tasks, like getting dressed.
Our staff is specially trained to offer encouragement and guidance to help your loved one in the most supportive, loving ways possible.
Equally important as physical needs, staff members help residents engage in meaningful activities that promote their social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
You probably have many questions as you search for the best environment for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or other related dementia.
