Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Center of Excellence at Overland Park is located just a mile from Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Our nursing home focuses on providing safe, secure care for residents with Alzheimer's and other dementia-related disorders. This care is individualized because we know that Alzheimer's and dementia are different for each patient.

Providing Peace of Mind

With eight secured wings, our facility features five gender-separated wings, three for males and two for females. Whatever the level of care required, our highly trained associates can provide the best care possible, from skilled nursing to inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation, ultimately providing peace of mind for family members, friends and our residents.

We partner with the Alzheimer's Association and the National Parkinson's Foundation and take part in the fundraising walks for both organizations, as well as the Alzheimer's Association art program Memories in the Making. We are an Overland Park Chamber of Commerce member and a teaching facility for multiple nursing schools in the area.

Rehabilitation

A skilled team of physical, occupational and speech therapists evaluates the rehabilitation needs of each patient and designs an outcome oriented treatment program. The goal of specialized rehabilitation programs is to help residents attain their maximum potential and restore the abilities and confidence essential to independent living. We offer unique inpatient and outpatient programs with the latest rehab technologies to help our patients reach their maximum level of independence.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy fosters each patient's independence and enables functional mobility skills following acute or chronic disease processes. This is accomplished through individual evaluations and treatment plans that address deficits through customized interventions.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists work with patients to achieve independence in activities of daily living. Therapists help patients refine their motor skills, hand and upper extremity function, and bladder and bowel control for incontinence.

Speech Therapy

Speech and language therapy helps patients improve their communication skills in speaking, problem solving, reading, writing and verbal expression, and resolving problems with swallowing.
