Independent Living

What is independent living?

Independent living offers older people the convenience and enjoyment of community living. Daily responsibilities like cooking, cleaning and transportation are taken care of, and social events allow residents more time to pursue interests and connect with friends and neighbors.

Independent living communities are ideal for active older people who can perform activities of daily living (ADLs) on their own, such as bathing, grooming and getting dressed. People who require assistance with ADLs may want to consider Atria’s assisted living communities.

What is Atria’s approach to independent living?

Independent living at Atria offers more than just a life free from everyday “must-dos.” We help residents achieve overall well-being through a whole-person approach to aging that includes staying active, eating well, connecting with neighbors and achieving personal goals right outside their apartment doors, every day.

Monthly rental rates include:

•    Chef-prepared meals in on-site restaurants or dining venues
•    A robust calendar filled with engaging opportunities
•    At least two instructor-led fitness opportunities
•    Scheduled transportation to local events, errands and appointments
•    Housekeeping services and linen services
•    Utilities (excluding phone)
•    Private apartments with personal alert systems
•    Apartment maintenance
•    Coordination with outside healthcare providers
•    A 24-hour Staff

For individuals who want to see if Atria is the right fit, short-term stays are available. Guests enjoy private, fully furnished apartments with all the same services and amenities as residents.

Assisted Living

What is assisted living?

Assisted living* communities offer personal care for older people who need assistance with activities of daily living. Services can vary from community to community due to state licensing and regulation requirements, but assisted living services typically include:

•    Medication assistance
•    Personal grooming assistance, such as bathing and getting dressed
•    Escorts to and from meals and events
•    Accommodations for no-salt added and no-concentrated sweet diets
•    Scheduling and follow-up with physician appointments and coordination of ancillary care services, such as occupational and physical therapy
•    Incontinence management

A select number of Atria’s assisted living communities also offer services that include diabetes management, nebulizer and oxygen management, and catheter and ostomy care. Our care staff will meet with you to determine specific care needs. If we aren’t the best fit, we will help you find a place that is.

What is Atria’s approach to assisted living?

At Atria, assisted living is about more than a helping hand; it’s about promoting overall well-being through a whole-person approach to aging that includes four key lifestyle choices: exercise, connection, nutrition and goals.

Residents enjoy opportunities to stay active, eat well, connect with neighbors and achieve personal goals right outside their apartment door, every day.

Services and amenities include:

Memory Care

What Is Memory Care?

Memory care is a specialized type of service specifically for individuals facing the challenges of Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other types of memory impairment. At Atria, we call our memory care program Life Guidance.

Residents receive assistance with medication management and activities of daily living including bathing and grooming, all in a secure environment with 24-hour care from our specially trained caregivers.

What Is Atria's Approach to Memory Care?

We believe that despite the challenges of memory impairment, a person with dementia can continue to live an engaging, meaningful and joyful life. Our forward-thinking approach to memory care includes:

Physical Activity – Decades of research point to the health benefits of regular exercise for seniors, including the potential to limit cognitive decline. Our Life Guidance neighborhoods offer at least two exercise opportunities every day, such as walking, stretching and restorative yoga, dancing and working with weights.

Social Connection and Engagement – People who are part of a caring community live longer and have less stress than those who are isolated and lonely. And what's good for people living with dementia is what's good for all older people: staying connected and engaged.

For example, music has been shown to improve mood, reduce stress and agitation, and create focus and interest. That’s why we offer events and programs using the power of music to make the present world more familiar and awaken memories of people, places and experiences from the past.

Individualized Care – Our dedicated staff receives extensive, specialized training in dementia care, including a stringent orientation program and at least 15 hours of mandatory additional training each year.

Thoughtfully Designed Spaces – Our Life Guidance neighborhoods are designed with our residents' abilities in mind, offering secure indoor and outdoor spaces, which allow them to maintain a sense of independence within their environment.

Carefully chosen artwork features local landmarks and nostalgic images. A memory display with personal pictures and mementos is located outside each resident's room to help them navigate their way back to their apartment. Furniture is arranged to encourage conversation and evoke feelings of home.
