This place discharged my husband with an active c-,diff. When I got him home under his clothes was an adult diaper filled with diarrhea. I did not understand at the time that he had c-diff. I thought he just. had diarrhea. But as time went on I asked his family doctor for a c-diff test. It was positive. He is in York hospital right now finally getting treatment.

Awful place to take your loved ones. The staff is rude and not attentive to the patient. They refused to bill insurance for an extra week due to a covid spread so we had to pay out of pocket.

My spouse just entered York South. This is his third nursing home since December, 2025. So far it’s 100% better. The other two, which I won’t name but should, were dirty, smelled awful in the halls and rooms, and staff were inconsiderate and ignored patients as much as they could. I was never contacted or received information voluntarily. He left both places in worse physical condition than when he entered, needing to be admitted to a hospital. York South is clean and there are no odors. Staff is friendly and attentive to patient needs. They treat my husband with respect and are very attentive to his needs. They also listen to him rambling on about things I’m sure bore them but they don’t act like it. He has open wounds and a severe infection. He’s being kept clean and checked on regularly. His call button, when used, is never ignored. I received an email with a link to a website with helpful information. I received a call from a staff member asking if I had any questions or concerns and provided with a phone number if I wanted to contact them. I was invited to a meeting in my husband’s room with staff to inform us of his treatment plan, goals, tentative length of stay, etc. I’m very appreciative that they have included me. He has dementia and any info he passes along is usually unclear. I was leery about selecting a third nursing home after the first two experiences. York South has been a very pleasant surprise.

My husband was there for about a month. It seemed to be a very good place. My husband was well taken care of. The reason for only three stars came at the end. I was given two days notice that he was being discharged. When he was discharged I was the one who have to wheel him in a wheelchair to our car. I am 73 and when I tried to wheel him down the ramp the wheelchair almost got away from me several times. The few staff members who were there just watched. Then when I got him home I discovered he was completely incontinent both fecal and urine. I am still struggling with this. Also he was suppose to have OT but that never happened.

My dad was at York South for four months. He recently passed there and my experience with staff was exceptional. They took such good care of dad. Everyone there is super nice and very caring. Even in dad's last days, they were there for him and my family. They have a very nice speech therapist, that takes the time to get to know you. She was loved very much by dad. She made him smile just like the other nurses and staff. Everytime there was a change in dad's health or anything going on with him, let let me know immediately. Thanks to all for caring for my dad❤
