Great facility, Great activities, and great staff!

I trusted the people at this facility to care for my mother and they failed repeatedly. She was only there 3 weeks; they neglected her continuously and did see to her needs or provide supervision which are the reasons she required Memory care. She lost weight in that short amount of time due to no one bothering to assist her with her meals even though she is legally blind and needs cues and prompts and physical assistance to eat. She fell several times and was in very bad pain and no one noticed till I went 2 days later and she was holding her side and complaining of pain to her side. One of the attendants as she was explaining to me patients have the right to fall, said they could not force mom to do anything and that was abuse if they did (and I agree force is not what I am asking for), to which I replied and lack of care and protection, neglect, starving people who still want to eat is abuse, not using good nursing judgment, letting workers get by with neglect and starvation, is also abuse. Needless to say, I moved her immediately and she is now being cared for, having no issues with being guided or directed, eating and drinking and participating in activities. In the new facility when my mother feels scared and has a moment in which she is not understanding what is happening, instead of walking away and leaving her to her own devices which she cannot rely on, they are educated on how to coax and guide and help the patient feel protected and cared for even in they are in the throes of psychosis of dementia.<br>I debated on writing this, but I would not want this to happen to another family looking for a place for a loved one that has severe memory issues. I equate it to locking a toddler in the closet and then blaming the toddler for any negative outcomes. The lack of care and supervision is appalling, and no one wants that for their loved one.

If your looking for Assisted Living or Memory Care for your loved one I highly recommend Wellington Manor. My father has been there since November of 24 and they have been above and beyond what we expected. They keep you updated on your love one. The place is very clean, no unpleasant smells when you walk down the halls. They treat their residents with dignity and respect.

Friendly staff, going out of their way to make your loved one feel right at home. Peggy went beyond to insure transition was fast and easy. Best price for same great care as other facilities.

Although we found a place for my mom a little closer to home, Peggy, the family advisor, was so nice and accommodating. We were particularly impressed during the tour by the rooms dedicated to nursing services, like PT and OT. It looks well run and the residents well cared for.
