About Wabash Senior Living & Rehabilitation

Wabash Senior Living & Rehabilitation is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Carmi, Illinois, licensed for 156 residents. The community operates with a faith-based foundation and offers chaplaincy services alongside medical care.

Family experiences at the facility are notably mixed. Positive reviewers consistently praise staff warmth and professionalism, with one family noting "staff is very warm and welcoming." Families highlight spiritual programming, including chapel services and Bible study, and recreational activities such as bus trips as meaningful parts of residents' lives. However, several families report significant concerns about care quality, including inadequate assistance with feeding, inconsistent hygiene standards, and a perception that residents were treated without sufficient dignity. One family transferred their relatives elsewhere after nine months, citing rapid decline they attributed to insufficient eating support.

Wabash Christian Village holds a 3.9 out of 5 Google rating across 33 reviews, reflecting this polarization. The facility appears to have undergone ownership changes that at least one family felt worsened conditions. Prospective families may want to conduct detailed visits and speak directly with current residents and their families about daily care practices and supervision standards.

I saw more problems after the new owner took over. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did.

I'm not impressed with this facility at all. My grandparents were under their care for 9 months until I recently transferred them elsewhere as my Grandpa declined rapidly. He needed assistance with feeding and I feel staff didn't try to get him to eat therefore he declined rapidly. Staff seemed to have negative attitudes and my Grandparents felt like a burden in what should have been their home. Take your loves ones elsewhere if you want them to be loved and taken care of!
