I want to thank Visiting Angels for their care and support as my Dad transitioned from this earth to Heaven. We had several "angels" help us during the evenings over the course of about a week. Eve, our main point of contact and scheduler, was extremely kind, gracious and responsive to our questions. She really took us under her wing, explaining their services and ensuring my mom had support during the evenings. The angels I met were on time (if not early), courteous, and had a genuine desire to be of help to our family. God knew that the night my dad passed away, we would need their angel, Kay, with us. She was such a comforting presence, and her background of decades as a registered nurse brought us an experienced support who was also full of peace to help navigate this transition. As if being by our side when Dad passed wasn't enough, she then picked up my brother from the airport so we could stay at home and grieve, and then upon her return to my mom's home, assisted the Hospice nurse in preparing my father's body for the funeral home attendants. What stood out to me the most is that Kay came to my father's celebration of life service a month later. Seeing her and being able to hug her once again was so bittersweet. It was a reminder of both the grief and joy that we experienced that evening several weeks ago together with Dad's passing while knowing he was in our Savior's arms, but also was a shining example of her dedication to genuine care, support and love for our community and its families. If you are in need of home care services, I highly recommend Visiting Angels. Things to be aware of as you consider this support is to fully understand what the "angels" are allowed to do and not do -- especially when it comes to medication management. If I recall correctly, the angels could administer meds, as long as they were pre-dosed. Due to the complexity of liquid meds and in our case, crushing pills and adding water to make them in liquid form, I can see how it could be a challenge for some circumstances. I recommend families keep a log of what type, when and how much medication is administered, especially if you have multiple people involved in providing end of life care. Also highlight opportunities where the angels can be of support in the home. Our situation was a little tricky as we wanted overnight support for our mom, so cleaning and doing things around the apartment was rather limited to not disrupt rest, and admittedly our family was rather "hands on" in caring for our father! As for payment, we were required to pay up front for two weeks of service, however because we didn't utilize services for that long, the company provided us a refund, for which we were very appreciative. I will be forever thankful for Visiting Angels' services and the friendship created with Kay in particular.

I cannot express the exceptional care provided by Visiting Angels. All caregivers showed compassion and my mom was always happy when they arrived. If you are looking for someone who is on time trustworthy and compassionate I highly recommend Visiting Angels

Visiting Angels is by far the best company for senior care here in Roanoke. I have tried several other senior care companies and Visiting Angels is the most professional, courteous, and caring. Their aides are all highly qualified and trained. My mother, who has dementia, needed additional care after suffering a broken elbow and the team at Visiting Angels was able to get a schedule made and filled quickly. I will definitely be calling on them in the future if my mother ever needs help again.
