Do not waste your time if you need timely in-home care.

I was approved for 15 hours a week through the Optum assessment, and yet I was told it would take two months to get someone out to help me — allegedly because it had to go through prior authorization. However, EQ (the authorization agency) clearly stated that once Optum approves it, care can begin immediately.

Two nurses came to my home today and openly admitted that the owners of this company “just won’t allow it.” Their reasoning? Money. They heavily pushed ARChoices, telling me it’s more profitable for them. One even asked what kind of Medicaid I have, and after I told her, she essentially said my current plan wasn’t worth their time. I’ve already applied for ARChoices — it’s under medical review — but the difference is only about 20 extra hours of care. Apparently, the 15 hours I currently qualify for is just “chump change” to them.

I was so uncomfortable with their attitude and lack of urgency that I asked them to leave. If you need real help and compassion, look elsewhere.
