Memory Care

Families can rest assured knowing that their loved one is in a safe and secure, yet open, accommodating setting. These residents enjoy structured activities delivered by staff trained specifically to care for those with memory difficulties.Research has proven that routine, familiarity and activity help maximize the quality of life for individuals with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.

Memory Lane, a specialized dementia care community at Vincentian Home, provides a custom-designed experience for these individuals. Across the Vincentian ministries, all staff are trained on best practices to help any resident with cognitive impairment lead a happy and fulfilling life.

Long-term Care

Long-term Care refers to a continuum of medical and social services designed to support the needs of people living with chronic health problems that affect their ability to perform everyday activities. Often those in long-term care can no longer care for their personal needs such as eating, bathing, using the bathroom, transferring to bed or chair or responding to emergencies. They may also have extensive medical needs requiring daily attention.

Our dedicated team provides 24/7 skilled nursing care with a focus on clinical excellence, working closely with residents’ physicians and other healthcare professionals. Comprehensive health care offerings include medical and psychiatric services, dental, podiatry, ophthalmology, pharmacy, oxygen therapy and hospice care. Programs are designed to help residents celebrate their individuality and enjoy their highest level of independence.

Therapists provide three types of short-term rehabilitation at Vincentian:

Physical Therapy addresses the cause of an injury, be it skeletal, muscular or related to the nervous system. Therapists use a range of techniques to both help you recover from an injury and teach you how to hopefully prevent a re-injury in the future. Physical therapy can also help improve balance and mobility as well as prevent falls.

Speech therapy is designed to address a wide continuum of speech and language issues. Aging, neurological challenges and other medical conditions can result in problems with one of our most basic bodily functions: swallow and talking. Speech therapy at Vincentian helps you improve your ability to eat and communicate.

Occupational therapy helps you regain independence and quality of life in your daily activities. This type of therapy at Vincentian involves daily tasks that have become difficult, like cooking, cleaning, dressing or bathing. The goal of occupational therapy is to help you get back to doing what you want or need to do in your daily life.

When you choose Vincentian for your physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or language therapy, you can rest assured that you are receiving 5-star rated care.

I completed my Capstone experience at Vincentian Schenley Gardens in the memory care unit. Vincentian offers a variety of activities for residents to participate in. The staff were very welcoming and really cared for the residents. I would recommend this facility to others.

My parents were residents for 8 months and it was not a good experience. There were medication issues (late/missed), lack of housekeeping, staff sleeping in common areas during work hours, laundry room/garbage area cleanliness issues, broken down appliances, courtyard/outside spaces in disrepair, dismissive staff and resistence to outside providers for hospice care. The intergenerational living highlighted is very limited.

My mother-in-law lived at Vincentian Schenley Gardens in the memory care unit. The facility has been consistently short-staffed in the memory care unit—often with only one aide responsible for 14 residents. This level of staffing leads to delayed care, long response times, and visible strain on the staff who are present. These issues have been ongoing, not temporary lapses. Despite repeatedly raising concerns with management, we found them uncooperative and unwilling to take meaningful action. Instead of solutions, we received dismissive responses and little follow-through. Had it not been for a private duty aide we arranged for my mother-in-law, her comfort and well-being would have been severely compromised. Families entrust loved ones to facilities like this with the expectation of safe, attentive care—an expectation that Vincentian Schenley Gardens has not met. While some staff members are hardworking and caring, the chronic understaffing and lack of accountability from management make this an unsafe and unreliable choice. We have since moved my mother-in-law to another facility where the staff-to-resident ratio is appropriate and residents’ needs are met with care and attentiveness. It is also worth noting that many positive reviews appear to have been written by staff in an effort to boost ratings, which makes it difficult for families to rely on Google reviews when making such an important decision.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Vincentian Schenley Gardens. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth, professionalism, and a true sense of community. The staff here goes above and beyond to ensure that residents receive not just exceptional care, but genuine love and respect. What sets Schenley Gardens apart is their person-centered approach towards residents--they take the time to know each resident as an individual, tailoring care to their preferences and needs. The communication with families and caretakers is also excellent and I know people feel reassured knowing their loved ones are in such capable and caring hands. Highly recommend!
