I was a resident in this facility from September '25-April '26. I do not recommend this facility for anyone unless you are going to help care for your family member while they're there.<br>I witnessed residents call lights, including my own, go unanswered and unchecked for 30-60+MIN countless times. Only sometimes it's bc aides are busy with another resident. Sometimes it was bc an aide was asleep, or on their phone, was doing school work, or just didn't want to answer the light(s).<br>I was not given all of my medications for -months-. I was given a cup of pills and told that was everything, I trusted that it was, but one day after being there 3 months I realized they had never asked for a refill on my specialty medication that their pharmacy couldn't fill. I asked the nurse to show me what I had only to find out that medication had been marked PRN unknowingly to me so I hadn't been given it in 3 months even though it clearly states on the bottle it's to be given every 12 hours. From that point on I had to check my pills to be sure I was given all of them, and it was a 50/50 chance that medication was given to me bc it wasn't in the pill packs even after I reported the issue. If you take a specialty medication that the pharmacy the facility uses cannot fill, you must make sure they're giving it to you as necessary!<br>I was stuck here because other facilities said I was too young to take and/or they had no beds open so I had no choice.They do NOT do care conferences as they are required to.Info on state visits and fines should be found at the front desk, READ THEM!<br>Nurses and aides leave the floors unattended all the time. I had to give EMT's the code to the lockdown unit elevator so they could pick up a deceased resident b/c there were no staff present to let them up.I witnessed countless aides be rude and borderline cruel to residents that have dementia.Yes, a person repeatedly asking the same question over and over is frustrating, but they can't help it.I had one aide tell me I couldn't get a shower bc she "didn't have time to look for a shower chair,I could have a bed bath or nothing" then she didn't come back to check on me the rest of that shift(from 7pm-7am). I don't know if she got in trouble otherwise but if she did that to me what is she doing to those residents that can't or won't speak up?Now I worry for the friends I made while there who aren't able to get better and go home or elsewhere.<br>Housekeeping staff do clean daily, unfortunately residents do have the right to refuse to be changed and refuse to allow staff to clean their rooms which means there are absolutely some very foul smelling areas and people.<br>Laundry staff does everything they can to keep up with ppls clothing and facility linens.I highly recommend you wash your loved ones clothing for them if at all possible or get laundry bags so all of their clothing can be kept contained in the wash and not get lost.They do their best but with nearly 100 residents worth of clothing it's impossible to not lose track of things occasionally.<br>They should not have "rehabilitation" in their name because what they offer is NOT rehab.It's not even enough to actually keep your muscles from atrophy.The man over restorative therapy literally told me, a 40 year old woman that, "you will not be a walker, you won't walk again, you fell 3 times! We should get you fitted for an electric wheelchair and you should stay here! You can't go home, it's not safe." Well, 2 weeks in an actual rehabilitation hospital later I AM walking, without issue.<br>I know there are worse facilities out there than Veranda Gardens, please be prepared, do your research, go in to facilities unannounced to look around and see how things really are not just for scheduled visits. Even with all of this and things I didn't mention, I do have to add there are a few staff members that went above and beyond to do the most and best they could for their residents and I will never be able to thank them enough for not letting waste away there. No matter what facility your loved ones are in, check on them often.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this nursing facility. From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff made us feel welcomed, respected, and genuinely cared for. The level of compassion and professionalism shown here is truly outstanding.<br><br>The nursing team goes above and beyond to ensure residents are comfortable, safe, and treated with dignity at all times. They are attentive, responsive, and take the time to really get to know each resident and their individual needs. It’s clear that this isn’t just a job to them, its a calling.<br><br>The facility itself is always clean, well-maintained, and organized, creating a warm and inviting environment. Activities are thoughtfully planned, keeping residents engaged, social, and happy. Communication with families is consistent and reassuring, which brings a great deal of peace of mind.<br><br>Knowing that our loved one is in such capable and caring hands means everything to us. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for quality care and a place that truly feels like home.

The leadership team is also very involved and approachable , which makes a big difference. Any questions and concerns are addressed quickly, and communication is always clear and transparent.

What stands out most is the genuine compassion the staff shows every single day. They are not only attentive to medical needs but also take the time to offer comfort, conversation, and encouragement. It truly makes a difference in the residents’ quality of life.
