As a individual at Vanceburg Hills and being fairly young doing rehab here for some physical problems I can only write my review as to my experience as a short-term resident the admission was extremely smooth the explanation of the rules was about 8 out of 10 the facility cleanliness is a 9 1/2 out of 10 the politeness understanding and professionalism is about a 9 out of 10 the going out of their way to make you feel at home is about a 9 out of 10 the nursing and the doctors ability to do their job to take care of your problems is about a 9 and a half out of 10 the services they give every day whether it's changing your bedding and cleaning able to get certain things to you is pretty good except except the food service is lacking I know this is a topic that's very hard to really master in a service industry such as the nursing home location I get it I understand they are working their way better I've been here for over 2 months and they have done better ask for their food service I am sorry to report that the to me at my age of 54 years of age and never being in a nursing home I can only give you that aspect or that view from someone at my age and my experience I know that the the Food Service really goes into the diets each and every one of us and as to comparing it's just like anything else it's asking someone their favorite color or you know what's your favorite food everyone's going to answer different but it definitely needs some revamping they're working on it as of this point as of July 2026 they are working on it whether it gets to the level I feel like it should be I don't know I can only give you my opinion when I leave but and I wish I intend to but I do think that we are going to see some improvement with the Food Services there's a lot of issues with portion size there's a lot of issues with quality with the difference in the menu with everybody we're going to see some changes for the better though I feel so right now I'm going to grade them at a 6 and 1/2 or 7:00 with with anticipation of improvement is that improves anytime in the near future I will recommend and update my my grade on that because it's we all have room to

My brother was put in a room with another resident who had a very high contagious blood disease ! The guy was bleeding several times heavily while he was there he was told not to touch anything in the room while he was there because he could get sick. My brother has chronic heart disease and chronic lung disease. They had no business putting him in the room with this Resident. nursing homes have a very strict Guideline Not to put someone highly contagious in the room with the elderly person who is already sick. They should be investigated.

The entire facility reaked of urine and excrement. The floors were filthy. I saw staff members changing bandages without washing their hands or wearing gloves. The wounds were not cleaned before bandages were applied. The bandages were drug across the filthy floor in the process of being applied. There was urine on the floor and it was not cleaned up. Staff members were polite but the condition of the facility was inexcusable. A nursing care or rehab facility should never be in this state of uncleanliness.

I love the staff, I love the care provided for my niece. I brought her home during COVID outbreak and was considering keeping her home, well after a week she told me she wanted to go back that she missed her friends. I am guardian over my 47 year old Down Syndrome neice, who started having some health issues and requiring more care that I just couldn’t do myself any longer and she required therapy. Well after getting through the guilt I felt and saw her thriving . I starting feeling ok about it. The rehab department is fantastic and the staff is like family. I can’t get there every day because of the way I work now and that’s ok, because I know she is being well taken care of and I have peace about it all now. She calls them her friends
