The care my father received while residing at the Timbers was exceptional. From the first time I spoke to the director (Kay Sims) to the day my father passed away, I felt as though we were family and not just a number. The level of compassion and personalization for his care was remarkable. The facilities are beautiful and clean, not what you would think of in an ordinary memory care facility. I cannot think of a better scenario for what we were facing. We were able to support my father as family and let the Timber’s staff take over as his care providers, which provided us so much peace in his last few months.

My husband and I are in our mid-eighties and decided that it was time to look into Assisted Living Communities. We looked at several. (I might add that we were already living in an active 50+
Community which we loved). Prior to that we had lived on top of Sassafras Mountain overlooking Big Canoe for 23 years. We had a beautiful home with at least 65 mile views overlooking the Big Canoe area close and the Atlanta skyline in the distance! This was a time of difficult decisions! After doing much research, we decided on The Timbers as we already knew the area well and it was like ‘going home’. The facility is beautiful, clean, safe, quiet and located in the beautiful North Georgia Foothills. It is close to Amicalola Falls which are the highest falls east of the Mississippi River! The area is close to small mountain towns with fun gift shops, apple orchards, golf courses and great places to eat, etc. The first thing I did when I was touring the lodge was to introduce myself to the head chef. I was assured that the food was healthy, not processed food and local farm to table when possible. We moved in 09/10/25 and love it! The staff is very loving and caring. The therapy sessions are individualized by well trained therapists. Music programs are frequent as are well enjoyed movies! The entire experience is run by professionals and is friendly and inviting.

This experience is like ‘going home’….it’s like ‘family’ ! We made the right choice!

Roslyn Cady Rush
Resident

First of all don’t be impressed by the 3 people giving 5 star ratings above. They are PAID employees of the facility and I was privy that they were asked by the admin. to post a review but of course NO comments. I will let you deduce what you think. If it were me I would go hmmm!🤔
It is over priced, it is not above the rest.
Even though when you register your loved one the director tells you your loved one may Age in Place No this is not true. When your love one in Memory Care declines when they no longer can lift themselves from a wheelchair and needs full assistants they make you leave. I even called the State of Georgia and they said if your loved one is in Age in Place the facility can use a 3 person assist as well as can use a Hoyer Lift. The Timbers refused. My husband was also hit by a caregiver. I have a recording of the Head nurse telling this person there were several witnesses to her hitting him. They fired her. The facility never notified me nor reported it to the State which they are required by law to do. Just be aware your loved one maybe ok in Assistant Living because they are cognitive aware but in Memory Care they cannot they are at their mercy. Don’t be fooled by the previous person with the initials EB either. She gave it a 5 star rating because her husband owns the Timbers.
