I'm a fairly new resident and my experience has been mostly positive. Pros: The building is clean and well maintained (weekly cleaning and monthly exterminating). The maintenance team is excellent and has responded to any problems I've reported. There is a large community room with conference table, couch, chairs and a large screen TV. Adjacent is a kitchen with a washer (which has been out of order for a month) and dryer. Note: each of the three floors has a washer and dryer. There is a small resident parking lot (sticker provided) and so far I haven't had any difficulty finding a parking place. There are cameras around the building and I have not felt unsafe entering or leaving the building. A nice outdoor seating area with a barbecue grill is off to the side of the building in a tree shaded area. There is ample storage in the kitchen which has a fridge, electric range, and microwave. The residents are welcoming and cordial and they engage in conversation (and bingo). There is also a nice community coordinator that arranges several activities a month. Cons: the walls are very thin. You can hear your neighbors conversations and just about every step they take. You can also hear the water rushing through the pipes every time a shower is used or a toilet is flushed (I know much more than I need to know about my neighbors habits). The fire alarms are wonky and you have to be very careful about smoke or heat when cooking. (Who thought it was a good idea to put a fire alarm in the kitchen?) The kitchen appliances are cheap. The burners don't fit tight to the stove, the oven racks don't fit, and the refrigerator makes a racket as does the HVAC unit. There are no towel racks in my unit and the cheap toilet seat doesn't firmly attach. The windows are old and don't open (a little silicone spray might help). The washer on the first floor has been out of order for a month. There have been several office managers (all pleasant) in the past two months who seemed to rotate between other buildings leaving the office sporadically open. Hopefully the new manager will have a reliable office schedule. In conclusion, it's a nice, safe place for lower income seniors if you're not super picky.
