I cannot recommend The Shores of Lake Phalen Memory Care based on my family's experience.

As the legal guardian of my mother, who has advanced Alzheimer's disease and requires extensive assistance with daily care, I observed repeated concerns regarding her supervision, personal care, communication, and the facility's response when issues were raised.

During her residency, there were multiple incidents involving missing personal belongings, including sentimental jewelry that was never recovered. I also documented concerns about hygiene, clothing management, and overall attention to her individual needs. On several occasions, I found that issues I reported required repeated follow-up before receiving a response.

What was most disappointing was the lack of transparency and accountability. Rather than providing clear answers and corrective actions when concerns were raised, communication often felt defensive or dismissive. Families entrust memory care providers with the safety, dignity, and well-being of vulnerable loved ones. In my experience, that trust was not consistently earned.

Every family's situation is different, but I would strongly encourage anyone considering this facility to ask detailed questions about staffing levels, supervision practices, incident reporting, personal property protections, and how concerns from families are investigated and resolved.
