Over the past few years, my wife and I have had three loved ones cared for there — one of mine and two of hers — and every single experience has been outstanding. We’ve seen firsthand how this amazing team operates, and it’s clear they do this work from the heart. Heather (Director of Nursing) and Judy (Administrator) are the true backbone of The Lakes. What makes them so special is that they don’t treat this as “just a job” or “just a paycheck.” They treat every resident and every staff member like family. Their compassion runs deep, and it shows in everything they do. You’ll find them out on the floor helping staff, talking with residents, comforting families — not just sitting in their offices. They lead by example, and their hands-on approach sets a tone of warmth, teamwork, and integrity throughout the entire building. The staff at The Lakes are some of the most caring and well-trained professionals I’ve ever encountered. You can tell they’ve been properly inserviced and educated, especially when it comes to dementia care. They know how to communicate gently, redirect calmly, and support each person with dignity. The Lakes makes sure all employees stay up to date on new care techniques and training, which gives families like ours complete peace of mind knowing our loved ones are in capable, compassionate hands. One of our family members moved in at just 38 years old, needing full-time care and structure. The Lakes team stepped in and completely changed his life. They created a routine, provided consistent encouragement, and helped him learn healthy habits. After 14 months, he came home a completely different person — confident, independent, and thriving. The activities department deserves significant praise as well. They fill the days with laughter, music, creativity, and a sense of purpose. There’s never a dull moment, and the joy they bring is contagious. From the nursing staff to therapy, housekeeping, and dietary — every single department operates with pride and heart. You can tell they all love what they do, and that energy radiates throughout the building. Without a doubt, choosing The Lakes Nursing Facility was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made as a family. It’s rare to find a place where professionalism, compassion, and genuine care come together so perfectly.
