My grandma Lillian was moved here in November of 2019. She suffered from severe Alzheimer's disease and she was very well taken care of while a resident here. Stephanie is such an amazing person. From the behalf of my mom and me, I truly apologize if my grandma was beligerent with the staff and caregivers here. Before my grandma was officially diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she was a sweet, innocent, kind, little old lady. Alzheimer's took over her memory and turned her into the complete opposite of the kind of person I described her as. For a memory care facility, this place is better suited for elderly than a five star hotel. Everyone here is professionally trained to take care of people suffering from dementia, Alzheimer's, amnesia, or any memory disability that I cannot name. Sadly, my grandma passed in May of 2023. I appreciated the sympathy card sent to us for her passing from the people here. I wish I could tell Stephanie how embarrassed and sorry I was for my grandma's behavior at everyone here.

Great place, nice and clean, and very organized especially because of the marketing director Amanda, and the other staff 😌

Do not leave your loved one here if you care about them. My dad was a resident of the Gardens and they severely neglected him. He was rarely out of his bed when we visited him (he needed help being placed in a wheelchair) and when we came, the woman feeding him did not speak English (my dad only speaks English) and she was annoyed with him for wanting to feed himself. He developed deep bedsores here and became severely dehydrated because they left him in bed without water nearby. When confronted about it, they stated they had water stations throughout the facilities (which are not accessible if he is in bed). They only gave him a 4 oz cup of water with each meal which is not enough. He was hospitalized with severe dehydration and when he was sent back (against our wishes), we were told that he was going to be moved closer to the nursing station so he would get better care. They were unable to come up with a plan to ensure he received enough water. Instead, he was placed in the same room and was back in the hospital within a week, due to dehydration a 2nd time. The care was so bad that the hospital reported his case to adult protective services. The Gardens tried to blame the hospital for his bedsores but they were noted on his intake. They will say all the right things to family and claim to be empathetic but they will not follow through. Don't be fooled by how nice it looks, your loved one will not be cared for here.

I placed my cousin at this facility in September of 2022. He had dementia for a few years, and it was progressing very quickly. He had been at three other locations prior to this one. I had visited before and had placed him on a waiting list. Staff had always been very nice and called me immediately if they had any concern. If I had any issues, Gracie took care of them immediately, but those issues never involved the care my cousin was receiving. At one point they called and said there was an opening in a smaller building, and they wanted to move him there so he could have more eyes on him, since he was becoming unsteady on his feet. This did not increase his rent. It is a memory care facility, so keep in mind that residents like to go "shopping". So, make sure all items are marked permanently. I used a washable tag and snapped them on with a tool from Amazon. Do not take anything of value, like jewelry or anything you would regret going missing. Do not take more items than they really need. The staff can give you a good number of items they really need. You really have to be realistic when placing a loved one in any facility. It's not being cold hearted; it's a fact of life. My cousin had very thin skin and bruised easy. That happens as we age and when he had bruises on his arms, I could tell they were from the way he leaned into his wheelchair. Two people at a time also had to pick him up to move him into his wheelchair, a recliner, the shower chair and he gave no assistance at all. A six-foot-tall man. I never worried while he was there, and this was a great relief. The Gardens called me as soon as they saw a pink spot to let me know they were contacting his health care provider. I was also comforted to have a conversation with a visiting nurse, and he had stated that this was one of the best facilities in the area and the staff was doing a really good job on treating a bed sore. My cousin no longer walked, nor stood and I was able to view the log on how many times he was turned each day. My cousin had starting to refuse food and would throw it and spit it out. The staff kept me informed and worked with his healthcare provider to try anything they could to give him nourishment. My cousin passed away on Good Friday 2025 from complications due to Alzheimer's. The Gardens staff was very comforting, helpful and considerate. He started to transition three days earlier and was on hospice. I would especially like to thank Gracie, Lynn, Vickie, Amanda, Jojo, Claudia and the maintenance man for their help during my cousins stay and during his transition. There were many others for which I don't know their names. They all showed so much compassion and understanding that was truly heartfelt.
