I wish I could recommend The Business of Senior Care, but unfortunately, I cannot. While the ultimate goal of obtaining our license was achieved, it was achieved with my husband and I feeling like we did a lot of the heavy lifting and feeling very frustrated throughout the process. We initially met with the owner, Lucas Caroll. He told us because our state was a unique one, there had been challenges in the past. However, because of those challenges, they believed that they'd worked through them all and didn't believe we'd have those same issues with ours. We were assigned to "our team." At our first meeting we felt like we were being rushed through the call and our questions were not fully addressed. The jist of the response we would get about submission was, when we submit a package we expect there to be errors and we will just resubmit after corrections were made. That didn't sit well with my husband or myself, based on what we had been told by Mr. Carroll, nor is that the way we do business. We were then provided the Policies and Procedures to begin reviewing. And that's where the real frustration began. There were grammatical errors. And, the word processing errors were atrocious. Instead of using the underline function of Word, someone just used the underscore button to make lines. When creating forms, what should have been a table or columns, was set up using spaces. My husband and I spent HOURS recreating these documents. Hours that we should have been working on other aspects of our new business. We provided these documents back to The Business of Senior Care. These hours caused us delay after delay in getting our application submitted. When we were finally getting close to feeling like we were ready to submit our documents to the state, I found numerous documents we needed signed by our administrators. There was no guidance from The Business of Senior Care on these documents. This was all information I found on my own. I was rushed and stressed. When we finally thought we had everything, we advised them everything we thought was necessary had been uploaded for submission. We were told a Quality Assurance Review was going to be done prior to uploading to our state's system. We had a response from our state within two weeks, which is a quick turnaround. However, it was not the response we were looking for. We had some deficiencies. There were language in some of the policies that should have been updated from when The Business of Senior Care worked with our franchise partner previously, which was extremely frustrating. And, there were missing documents that should have been caught in their Quality Assurance review, which were not. Had that information been caught, or had that information been made known to us when we initially provided information related to our Administrators at the outset, we could have been working to obtain the information at the beginning, not at the end. So, again, because of not confirming or guiding us through the process and ensuring we had the correct documentation for our Administrators, The Business of Senior Care cost us more loss of business by delaying our ability to receive our license in a timely manner. We paid a lot of money to this business. And to feel like we did most of the work, is not a good feeling. The amount of money we paid to them feels like we threw it away based on the length of time it took us from start to finish, the amount of work we had to put into the actual documents, the frustration with not having all of the necessary documents, nor the support we were told we were going to have. Any time we would ask to speak directly to Mr. Carrol about our concenrs, someone would run interference and we were never given the opportunity to speak directly with him. We were always given a non-response, response, which also lead to the frustration. They never truly addressed the issue at hand.
