Heed the advice of others that have left negative reviews. If I could leave zero stars, I would. If a facility appears too good to be true, IT IS! This facility is constantly under staffed, and as hard as the caregivers work, there are just not enough of them to tend to residents needs efficiently.
Meals served here are nothing more than chicken nuggets, tater tots or fries, or frozen pizza. They are served cold cereal for breakfast often. My uncle is a diabetic and they serve him nothing but carbs and fried food. Rarely have I seen him be served a vegetable, much less fresh ones. They are not following protocol that would meet his nutrition needs, much less the needs of a diabetic.
I think the staff cares and would like to take better care of the residents, but they can only do so much. The management and the ownership are terrible. Do your research on ALG Senior Living out of Hickory, NC and look for the lawsuits pending against them.
If you are considering placing a loved one her because it is less expensive, you will get what you pay for. Visit on the weekends and during shift changes so you can see what's really going on. Very sad situation. Make smart decisions.

Understand what is going on at The Bluefields. My husband and I have been pushing for the repairs to be made. We have pictures of the control valve leaking, etc. This building was originally shut down for black mold. Also the inside camera system does not work. The director and supervisor over staff showed up at my work on March 27th at 1:30 pm to serve me to remove my 95 year old Veteran uncle by 5:00 pm that did no wrong only because we wanted a safe environment for him and other elderly people at this facility. The Bluefields and all the other facilities owned by the same people are involved in this federal lawsuit. Please ask yourself if a fire breaks out what is going to happen to your loved one. 😢

Terrible decision to leave a live one here. Poorly managed and low quality of care provided.

My mother was a resident of Bluefields for approximately 15 months, until her life was cut short by another resident who aggressively pushed her down. Subsequently, she broke her hip and passed away 2 1/2 days later. All the residents are together, regardless of their aggressive behavior or required level of care.
There was a large turnover of staff during my mother's stay.
Do your research, make an unannounced visit on the weekend and see where the staff are congregating and if they are available to care for your loved one.

The staff at Bluefields is exceptional!! They provided my wife with professional care and dignity for the past year. Losing your life partner is very hard - they made it less stressful. Their genuine care and support is much appreciated.
