When it was evident that we needed to find a better place than the huge memory care facility for my sweet mom, Susan Doyle of Oasis Senior Advisors suggested Sunshine. I had never known of these ‘small group homes.’
We moved her in and right from the start we saw such positive changes in her demeanor. She was calm, less agitated, and happy! I could tell it felt to her like home. The aides treated her with love like she was a member of the family. She was always clean, looking cute, hair brushed and styled. You could tell that they really cared about her. If there was an issue, responsiveness was immediate. I always received a return call. My husband and I moved out of the area but I couldn’t bear to move
Mom, she was so content. We spoke on the phone often and I always received daily updates of what she ate, wore and what activities she had participated in. When she was diagnosed with a terminal illness, it was seamless, Hospice worked as a team with Sunshine. She actually passed quickly, but was able to remain at ‘home.’ I am eternally grateful to all the people at Sunshine for making the last years of my sweet mom’s life so full and happy.
