When our mother, Sandra, reached the point where she needed full-time care due to limited mobility and cognitive impairment, our family was overwhelmed trying to find the right place for her. From the moment we found Sunshine Assisted Living, we felt a sense of relief and comfort that is hard to put into words. What stood out immediately was that Sunshine did not feel cold, institutional, or hotel-like the way many larger facilities do. Instead, it felt like a real home — warm, peaceful, cozy, and personal. Mom’s room felt more like a comfortable bedroom in a loving home than a standard facility room, and that meant so much to all of us during such a difficult transition. The staff treated our mother with genuine kindness, patience, and dignity. We never felt like she was “just another resident.” They were attentive, caring, and responsive, and it was obvious that they truly cared about her well-being. We are especially grateful to the Administrator, Anthony Faulkner, who went above and beyond to accommodate Mom’s individual needs. He worked with us compassionately and thoughtfully to create the right care arrangement for her and was always responsive whenever we needed guidance or support. During a very emotional time for our family, his kindness and professionalism made an enormous difference. We also deeply appreciated being able to have medical providers come directly to the facility to care for Mom. And when emergency medical assistance was needed, EMT response was quick, calm, and appropriate, which gave us tremendous peace of mind. Entrusting someone you love to the care of others is one of the hardest decisions a family can make. We will always be grateful to Sunshine Assisted Living for giving our mother compassionate care in an environment that truly felt like home.
