My wife has advanced Parkinson's with dementia and I felt her Monday morning check-in for a scheduled five day respite care stay was good and comprehensive. The staff nurse on duty appeared caring and thorough, and when I left I had a good understanding that her care needs, including her meds I had already organized and placed in a 7 day pill container, were going to be met.
However, upon my visit with her on the afternoon of the second day of her stay, I was shocked by the poor care she had received (she was dehydrated due she hadn't eaten or drank any water since before check-in, and was still in the same clothing I checked her in with). More importantly though, I was told she had been given morphine (without my permission or notification) due to her agitated state. Also, the staff nurse I spoke with had a different meds plan than what she should have been on and she couldn't find and didn't use any of the meds I had left with them upon check-in. Because of the above and that I then had no confidence in Staffholt to give her the proper care for the remainder of her 5 day stay, I checked her out of the facility and took her home.
In my opinion, if you’re thinking about putting a loved one there that requires a lot of special needs and attention (i.e. needs help eating and drinking), I do not recommend this place for you.

Recently I visited a resident at Stafholt and felt right at home when I walked in greeted by a welcoming reception. As I walked around I noticed the warm colors and positive sayings on the walls. I really enjoyed listing to how the staff interacted personally, friendly and responsively with their residents. Big thank you to Social Services and Nursing! Keep up the great work.

If I could leave a negative star I would. The care is lacking....has taken up to 1.5 hours for a call light to get answered. Thankful not a life and death issue. They call a care conference....cancel when it is suppose to be. I thought Stafholt was one of the good places, not our experience. Cannot recommend to anyone unless things change drastically.
