The place was dirty, no body cares. The only person who cared was the wound care nurse Khrissy. She has such a caring heart. Also the PT department was very supportive.

My 103 family member recently stayed at St James for 3 months. She was treated with respect and kindness. Her medical issues were addressed by experienced nurses, rehab therapists and doctors when necessary. The social activities was a highlight for her. The team at St James is attentive and knowledgeable and is concerned for the person’s overall health. The administrative staff was professional and compassionate towards our concerns In particular Cristen Wei listened and offered guidance giving us peace of mind. The place is clean and pleasant for patients and visitors I highly recommend St James.

Unfortunately, our experience at St. James was nothing but disappointing and stressful. We brought my grandmother here expecting attentive care and a supportive rehabilitation environment, but instead encountered consistent issues that made the recovery process much harder than it needed to be — both for my grandmother and for me as her primary caretaker. As a family member who visited at least once a day, every single day that my loved one was at St. James(35 days), I expected to be able to go to work and sleep at night in peace, knowing she was being properly cared for. Most days, that was not the case. To be fair, there were a few standout staff members who genuinely cared — the kind of people who treat patients like family and go above and beyond. Their compassion and dedication did not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for them. One of the nursing supervisors, Jen, was always quick and ready to help whenever we needed. The PT/OT team successfully rehabilitated my grandmother back to her baseline. And without the wound treatment nurse, Sarah, I’m not sure my grandmother’s wound care would have ever been handled properly. Fortunately for us as family members, the treatment nurses often left dated and initialed bandages in the room without changing her dressings — so we began documenting the neglect by photographing the bandages alongside our dated visitor passes. Once we began noticing signs of improper care, we started showing up at different times of day just to see what was really going on. On multiple occasions, we found my grandmother still in the same dirty clothes from the day before, unwashed, and even lying in bed with her sneakers still on. It was extremely upsetting and completely unacceptable. When I once called to speak with the unit’s nurse manager, a staff member — who I later learned was named Brian — refused to transfer me and dismissed all of my concerns. When I asked for his name, he would only say he was "a supervisor," though I know the unit has a designated manager. He still would not let me speak to them. Sadly, this wasn’t the first time a staff member refused to give their name or had their name badge completely covered, leaving no way to properly identify who we were speaking to. I could go on — about the clothes that went missing, the number of times her room went uncleaned for days, and the lack of accountability when we raised serious concerns. What made things even worse was that my husband and I were sometimes asked to leave the room during care — even when my grandmother specifically requested that we stay. That kind of disregard for a patient’s comfort, dignity, and autonomy is completely unacceptable. Thankfully, we were eventually able to bring her home, where she could be properly cared for. If you do leave a loved one at this facility, I strongly suggest keeping a close eye on both the rehab and the staff at all times. Being present and involved may be the only way to ensure your loved one receives the care they deserve. A lot gets swept under the rug, and concerns are too often dismissed. Unlike some of the suspiciously perfect reviews, this one is from a real family member who truly spent time here.

The staff at St James Rehab is phenomenal! Everyone from reception, dietary, recreation, SW, Case Mgmt, PT/OT, nursing, nursing assistants are caring, pleasant, professionals who take the time to listen and answer all your questions. I also have to mention an experience we will always remember. My mom had a private showing of her favorite movie in her room! It was set up beautifully giving her room the feel of a movie theater.

I wanted to give no stars but had to check one so I could leave a review. My Mother 81 stayed to gain strength in her legs for being hospitalized for ten days. She also suffers from PD. I had been told that this was a five star facility and that she would get PT several times a day. Well the first day she was evaluated for Pt in am and then literally sat in a wheelchair from 12:00 till 7:30. Received call at 11:07 pm from Janine the RN that my Mom fell out of bed. No rail no bed alarms. An aide walked in and found her on the floor god knows how long she was there before she was found . Their remedy to the situation was placing mats on the floor in case she fell again. Appalled and just outright shocked the next morning I informed the Case Manager that I would be taking my Mom home for lack of care at their facility. I was told at first that would not really be an option due to her diagnosis and I more or less told them it was not an option. Got to rehab at 9:30 paper work was already in progress. Could not locate my Mom in her room went to Nurses station they had no clue they said maybe PT went there one PT said she was suppose to give her PT but did not because she was leaving which was even more ridiculous cause technically she was not even discharged. Finally found her in a wheelchair pushed against a wall so she would not be a fall risk which is even more funny since they had no precautions in place from her falling out of bed. Also room was dirty pills in hallway I told the social worker she picked it up and said she spoke to the nurse and apparently when they open the pills some can fly out . I guess it’s common practice not to pick anything up. Biggest mistake entrusting this facility with my Mom. I thought I was doing the right thing but so far from it . Also administration was standoffish. Ashley director of case management and social work was brief and to the point also on the discharge papers I made my own note as to why I was taking home because of their carelessness. She warmed but it was really just to get to the front door she gave some helpful suggestions for care . Falls are taken very seriously at hospital and facilities this is a state reportable event. No apologies were given except from the Dr who saw her. Which he stated that the system is broken. I have pictures of what the room looked like . Garbage not emptied, bathroom dirty, crumbs on floor and water running in sink. Only wish I took pics of the pill and garbage in the hallway. Staff is not good Nurses not your RN’s you meet in the hospital. Janine was nice. she did answer questions for me earlier in the day prior to my Mom’s fall. This facility is not five star . Always do your research even if people recommend something check them out and call for yourself because things are always changing. The elderly are the forgotten unfortunately.
