I have been dealing with this Assisted Living for almost 10yrs. Not only do they keep the place clean it doesn't have some of those foul smells other AL's which can definitely not be so pleasant. They have exceptional cooks that cook from the heart not just to get by. If you want to be assured that you or your loved one is taken care of more than just a resident (payment) this is the place to reside.

Spring Grove Assisted Living (SGAL) has been a Godsend for my mother (who says it’s the “best place to be if I can’t be in my own house”) - and has provided wonderful peace of mind for our family! We know that mom gets kind, personalized care. The staff know her unique quirks and requests - and they consistently act upon them! For instance, they know she likes an omelette, sausage links (no sausage patties, thank you!) , and a cinnamon roll for breakfast. She is able to “get her hair done” by just going down the hall to the onsite beauty parlor, and she enjoys going to Friday “movie night” in the common area while sitting in the overstuffed chair and eating a bag of popcorn provided by the staff. There are snacks every afternoon in the communal dining room, an “open concept” design, well-lit by sunlight streaming through the large windows and door which opens onto the patio. The dining room is furnished with beautiful oak tables and china cabinet, lovely pieces of decorative dish ware, seasonal decorations and knick-knacks - all of which create a very “homey” environment. The patio itself is bordered with flowers. There is lawn art and a birdhouse visible from mom’s window; watching the birds is entertaining! . Not only is the physical environment appealing, but the caring and competent staff are really the “icing on the cake” at SGAL. In addition to providing assistance with personal care, they listen to stories of past events, converse about special memories, remember important dates, and find other ways to truly “connect” with mom that make her feel valued. And when mom pushes her call button, the response time is amazingly fast - especially when compared to other long term facilities. SGAL administrator Nikki (who is a RN) has been very responsive to our questions and requests and has done a fantastic job of implementing processes to keep mom (and the other residents) safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. So, if you or a friend or loved one are unable to safely live alone and/or need assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, cooking, cleaning, medication management, etc, then Spring Grove Assisted Living is the place for you! If you looking for a well-maintained, spacious, clean, and comfortable private living quarters designed for handicap accessibility, then Spring Grove Assisted Living is the place for you! I highly recommend Spring Grove Assisted Living!

My mother is a resident at Spring Grove Assisted Living. It is the perfect place for her. She has a spacious apartment with a large living/dining area that has room for her kitchen chairs and table, a sofa, 2 recliners, her TV, a mid-sized refrigerator, a microwave, and her computer/printer table. There are kitchen cabinets and a kitchen sink. The bedroom easily has room for a queen sized bed, a night stand, and a chest of drawers. There are two very large closets in addition to a smaller linen closet next to the bathroom sink. The private bathroom is roomy enough for a wheel chair to have easy access. There are grab bars and a shower with room for her shower chair in it and a shower bench next to it. Staff are caring and attentive. If Mom pushes her call button, someone is usually there in 5 minutes or less - very different from her experience at two other places where she could wait 45 minutes to an hour to get assistance. There are a few staff members who tuck Mom into bed at night when they help her to bed at night -- and that makes her feel very cared about. One staff member probably saved my mother's life by recognizing she wasn't quite right. After calling the owner, that staff member then called me at 4 am to say she thought I needed to take Mom to the hospital. It was absolutely the right judgement call for her to make. The staff do the laundry for Mom, and so far they have never lost any of her clothing. They do NOT throw the laundry for all residents together. Rather, they do all of one person's laundry before doing loads of laundry for the next person. There is not an extra charge for the laundry service. My mother feels safe and secure at Spring Grove Assisted Living. She says if she cannot live at home, Spring Grove Assisted living is the best place to be. Additionally, she feels the owner, Nikki Kimmerle, has taken appropriate precautions to minimize the chance of residents getting COVID. I find Nikki and her staff approachable and responsive. I have never felt like I was bothering Nikki if I called to discuss Mom's care with her. Spring Grove Assisted Living has people pay for the care they receive. One does not pay for showers or med management or walking assistance if those services are not needed. But when they are needed, staff is there to provide them. People can choose to be on a meal plan or not - and if on the plan, they can choose a 3 meal a day plan or one without breakfasts. The food is typically quite good - especially if compared to the food at other long-term care facilities. The cost of assisted living is more affordable than the cost of a nursing home. There is more individualized attention and quicker service. Spring Grove Assisted Living is a small facility with 20 rooms, so it feels more like an apartment complex than some care facilities do. There is a lovely patio area with picnic tables for residents who want to sit outdoors and knit or read or just commune with nature. Spring Grove Assisted Living takes private pay patients and a limited number of Medicaid patients.

I am a resident at Spring Grove Assisted Living...it is home. My room is my "happy place" and if I want to be social, I can go out and enjoy the family/living room/dining room and coffee/juice/snacks are always available day or night. We have a beautiful patio to enjoy with lots of flowers. It's so nice to not have the responsibilities of cleaning, laundry and planning and preparing meals. It is nice to not be alone (especially during storms). We all probably have illnesses that we don't want to deal with alone...here we have caring staff who are always available. It's a scary decision to sell your home and move but once here, it's the right one.
