I wish I had read the reviews initially. The service was recommended by the hospital. The chaplain was kind. The nurses were ok at first. When it mattered most, when my father developed pneumonia and his health deteriorated…,(It happened quickly within a week. )There was no communication. There were no explanations even after his death. I selected hospice because I believed it would provide him with dignity. In the end I worry the service hurt him more than helped him. My mother had hospice through a Boston service. That service was exceptional. I mistakenly believed this organization would be as kind and humane. It felt like my dad was part of warehouse that needed to speed up the inevitable in order to make room for the next batch of seniors.

My husband had visiting nurse services. Individual nurses were caring and competent, and all of them meant well. However it was a different nurse 9 out of 10 times. Each new nurse spent time repeating the same speeches we had heard before. Many of them didn't have time to learn about the patient before the visit or couldn't find the care orders on the computer without calling a supervisor. Some said that the care orders hadn't changed and didn't call the supervisor. The supervisor couldn't understand why they couldn't find the new orders.<br>The schedule for nursing visits kept changing, making it difficult for me to plan care. Usually, by the time a nurse came, the care was mostly done by me and they did a wellness check and one or two bandages. It was more stressful than helpful. The last straw for me was the nurse who suggested that if my husband would simply change his Full Code to DNR he could get Hospice care. He wants to live, so we are no longer using Southcoast VNA aka Southcoast Health at Home.

HAS ANYONE EVER DEALT PHYSICIAN'S ASSISTANT ROXANNE FEDETTE???<br>for the most part hospice has been great to my father especially the nurses I would've given more stars if the physicians assistant wasn't trying to turn him into a drooling vegetable with dilaudid even after refusing numerous times she continues to either increase it or convince him he needs to... I've never dealt with such an incompetent "medical professional" and do not understand why she has a license and is aloud to practice!!!

I firmly believe they use morphine as a weapon to get their patients out of their care sooner. How these people call themselves nurses and nurse practitioners is a disgrace to the profession. I worked in hospice myself and I am absolutely disgusted and shattered at the care my father received. All he wanted was help with the pharmacy issues and getting his medications on time. Hospice was supposed to help with that difficulty specifically alongside having people in the house to monitor him. He went from showering alone, talking for hours on end and spending time with family, happy and upbeat, to a ghost of a person. They took him off low dose tramadol that was working just fine the last few years and convinced him he needed the morphine instead. They took him off what was already working and proved to help him because they wanted him on that morphine full time. They kept upping the dose despite no complaints of more pain, they refused to keep my family in the loop of the changed medications and doses. They refused to call us and would call him directly knowing the state the morphine was putting him in. He was in a fog within weeks of them being in the home. You could feel how unsympathetic and over it they were. This company couldn’t be bothered. He became severely ill Saturday Feb 22 and couldn’t keep anything down. All he could do was vomit. They came out Sunday Feb 23 once in the morning and of course dosed him up with morphine, called it norovirus and took off. He was in such excruciating and agonizing pain with his stomach and they said he needed to wait it out and let it run its course. Sunday night the nurse on call Jocelyn showed not an ounce of empathy or care, returned phone calls over an hour later and excused her inability to hear on the phone because she was “with her kids and family” as my dad was sitting there dying. He couldn’t lay down, he couldn’t get a moment of peace in over 24 hours. She never came out to check on him despite my pleading that he couldn’t breathe and was in horrific pain. She told my sister to continue morphine and had not an ounce of sympathy for him. I realize now that he wasn’t sick, he was dying from whatever happened Saturday when he threw up that hard. His abdomen was so distended and rock hard. He was dead by 9 a.m. Monday morning. He suffered horrendously in their care and God I am so sorry I ever let them step foot in the door. My dad would be here today with his family if we rejected this care. If you want your family member to live and have peace until the end, avoid their care. Avoid these people like the plague they are. Believe the other families in these reviews. Don’t find out the hard way like my family now has. Southcoast Hospice cost my dad his life.

I didn't have a long time with these very dedicated and professional people. About a month . They took such great care of my mother , on her last days with us . Can't express my thanks enough. , Sue, Lori, Pam and my mother's angel Jodie. My mother and Jodie shared a moment , they were both misty eyed , these people truly care and it shows from day one . My mom passed Sunday. They still reach out to ser how I'm doing . Truly blessed to have met these women
