Upon my first visit to Sonshine manor I knew it would be the perfect place for my mom. It is a beautiful place with a homie feel. I met the owner and I can not express how much we appreciate all the help she has given us and all the help she continues to give. She has been a true blessing. She gave me her personal cell number for any questions I may have. She has never hesitated to text me back. I always get a response no matter how big or small my question may have been. I honestly don't know what we would have done without her help. She goes above and beyond for all her residents. If you are looking for a place for your loved one. Stop by Sonshine Manor.

Upon my mother’s diagnosis of dementia we were referred to this care facility by a social worker. The care facility was very anxious to accept my mother into their home. Her diagnosis was clear and her behavioral issues associated with her illness were emphasized. They assured me this would not be a problem and that she would be well cared for. My mother was not on any medication, healthy and mobile. The facility was spacious, clean and seemed to be appropriately staffed. I was actually excited for my mom to go there. The contract required a $1000 non refundable deposit in case of damages. Moving her in included furniture, bedding, towels, wall art, full wardrobe and everything to make her comfortable in her new space. The day we set up her room and left her it was dinner time and she was excited to join everyone for a meal. It was then we took our leave. The person in charge assured me she was in good hands and that they would update me soon. I expressed concerns about her room being close to the entrance doors. They assured me that she’d be fine even though I told them she was a runner. Two days in they told me she was doing great. By the end of the week I got a call from a random hospital saying they had my mother who had apparently assaulted a male intern which disqualified her as a resident. As a side note, I live out of state. So now I’m panicked. The hospital sets me up with a new social worker to get her re-homed. This takes over a month. So my mother was passed around to different facilities. We finally found a place that would take her. They said when she arrived by taxi she couldn’t walk, was on 16 medications and came with a small trash bag of her belongings. Not only did Sonshine Manor keep my mother’s belongings after I went over a checklist of her belongings with them, they kept her $1000 deposit. This place is a cash grab. Unfortunately at the time I didn’t know the difference between assisted living and memory care. But they did. And they knew she wasn’t a fit for their facility but admitted her anyway. Easy way to make $1000 in a week, not to mention the full month’s fee taken when she only spent a week there. On top of all of this, her current caretakers informed me that Sonshine actually lost my mother for two days and never told me. I wouldn’t let my parents anywhere near this place if I were you.
