In the 4+ months my husband has been at Shady Rest, paralyzed from a stroke last summer, he has fallen out of bed several times, it took 20 minutes for anyone to come to his aid the first time, has sat in a dirty diaper for more than an hour every single time, he was thrown out of his wheelchair from a strap getting caught in the wheels, has had several xrays and scans, most of the staff very unattentive, not all but most. When he's called a nurse or attendant they always tell him they will be right there but they never do. Without letting me know, He was sent home for a "surprise" 2 day visit with only one transport person to lift him up 4 porch steps and 4 steps inside our home. (I'm unable to help lift him) he wasn't able to lift him by himself but my husband tried to get up the steps on his own. He proceeded to fall flat on his side , so had to take him right back to the nursing home where he had to have another xray.. Talking to him last night I find out he went to the dining area 4-5 times last night around 5:00 and they never did serve him anything to eat at dinner time. The lady I've talked to, case worker or whatever she is, is so snotty I'm surprised she still has her job! Especially after her sneaky attempt to send him him without letting anyone know and him getting hurt! Do Not Send Your Family Here! My husband has to many complaints about this place to list here!

All the difference a month can make. With the change of a new director and some serious complaints to the state, this place has undergone a remarkable transformation in just a month. The facility is completely clean, painted, and the items have been repaired. The kitchen is spotless, and the residents are smiling. However, my son is currently being cared for at Shady Rest after an anoxic brain injury, and I was initially quite concerned. But I’m happy to report that he’s making significant progress now. The staff is fantastic—they’re attentive, caring, and always go the extra mile. During each unannounced visit, he’s been clean, well-fed, and even up and walking! This is a major update, and I highly recommend giving this facility another chance if you’ve been hesitant to leave a loved one in their care. I’m absolutely convinced that it’s better than the previous administration!

I repeat please do not put your loved ones In this nursing home unless you're ready for them to die And be left unattended It's called Shady Rest for a reason the people here are shady.Seriously! my mom was left in this nursing home for 2 months and had I not came to check on her she would be dead.Every time I came in her room She had a new bed sore In the little pee that was in her Catheter bag looked like coffee grains, They do not care And they kick my mom out of the nursing home because I started asking questions. Very disrespectful very Unprofessional .They have roaches bad Short on staff And I wish I could post the picture Of the water that came out of the faucet Which was Brown And looked like pee.One of the nurses there told me That some of the patients there Have not had a Bowel movement in 2 months And they still haven't been checked on.this place seriously needs to be shut down

Unbelievable.... lots of personal items missing from loved one, let him fall out of wheelchair numerous times with no contact, mysteriously broke his foot-( he is bedridden), and contacting the business office is an absolute joke. I have to work with numerous nursing homes over the five years and this by far is the worst run facility.
