Our family entrusted Sand Plum with the care of our mother during the final years of her life, and unfortunately our experience left us deeply disappointed.

Just four hours after we buried our mother on Thursday, June 4, we received a call from corporate informing us that we needed to immediately remove the brand new clothing from her closet and items from her patio or be charged an additional full month's rent. This was especially upsetting because arrangements had already been made. The clothing was designated for donation to the Blessing Box and Sand Plum residents, and the remaining items were scheduled for pickup by the Salvation Army on Friday.

All of this information had previously been provided to the manager, Dani. However, when we arrived, other employees informed us they had not been told anything and were unaware of the arrangements. The lack of communication between management (Dani), corporate, and staff created unnecessary stress during one of the most difficult days of our lives.

What hurt even more was the complete lack of compassion shown to our family. Sand Plum did not send a sympathy card, offer condolences, or acknowledge our mother's passing in any meaningful way. Wow! Who does that???

We were also concerned about the living conditions. For approximately a year and a half, my mother's central air conditioning was not functioning properly. Instead of repairing it, a small window unit was installed. We were repeatedly told there was not enough money to fix the system. As family members, this was extremely troubling.

Throughout our time there, employee turnover seemed constant, making communication and continuity of care difficult.

Losing a parent is hard enough without having to deal with unnecessary stress, poor communication, and a lack of empathy. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Sand Plum to other families seeking compassionate care for their loved ones.

This is one time there needs to be negative stars. My mother-in-law lived there almost 3 years. The last year and half was not good. She did not have a working central a/c during this time. We were told Medicaid would have to approve. She was given a window unit. We were finally told she was third in line for replacement. See died of pneumonia on May 30. A couple months before she died a new window unit was installed. I often wonder if the window unit may contribute to her pneumonia.
As for compassion, there was none. We were told that we should have removed everything before midnight last night because it was the last day of the month. Otherwise we would be charge another month’s rent. The day after her death the family spent the day cleaning out the unit. There were clean clothes in one of the closet for the facility’s Blessing Box and several boxes on the outside patio for Salvation Army. The administrator, Dani was aware of this.
Then four hours the family buried their Mother, Sand Plum corporate called report that there were items still need to be removed. One of the items was a mattress. This was removed along with all the clothes and boxes for Salvation Army.
I talked with the corporate office about this. The person I talked with was unaware of all that transpired. He in fact said there was a lack of communication with the local facility.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE.

The day after our precious Mother passed away, my sister and her husband received a phone call from Sand Plum Corporate Headquarters threatening our family with legal recourse because we allegedly placed our mother's mattress by their trash bin! We just suffered the loss of our mother, moving her out immediately after her death, then we have to put up with the "so-called" management who showed NO COMPASSION toward our family nor our dear Mother who had been a faithful and dedicated resident. I wouldn't recommend this facility to a dog! God have mercy on them all!

I’m so glad my mom is out of this place. I have to say there was about 2 nice employees there. My mom’s AC didn’t work for one year and a half, they put a tiny unit and said they could not fix her central AC. The administration (D) was always cold to my mom and the family coming into the facility. We are so relieved she is not there any longer. The staff was always rude but the nurse Mary was a sweetheart. Please don’t send your loved ones there.
