My mother was here for 2 1/2 yrs, and at first it was great. But I moved her out because the care had noticably gone downhill. Obviously understaffed, there were times that no staff would be on the floor of the memory care unit because both of them (yes, just 2 for a memory care unit of approximately 38 to 40 residents with some form of dementia) were in a resident's room assisting them with getting in or out of bed, or using the restroom. Lights were routinely turned off in the common area by 6:30 to 7 pm as staff wanted to encourage everyone to go to bed, presumably so their (the staff's) evening would go smoothly. Meanwhile, I was left trying to play a game of cards with Mom using my cellphone flashlight. Not to mention the residents walking about, with a dog running around, in dark & unsupervised. Not safe! Food quality also went downhill & no matter how many times I reminded them she had few teeth and couldn't chew well, she was routinely served hard foods so she refused to eat. Great layout, nurses were very nice. Too bad it's not as good as it has the potential to be.
