Very disappointing and unprofessional experience

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Rogers Behavioral Health in West Allis. I was speaking with a doctor about my daughter and explaining that she has been through a lot in her life, including being disowned by her father, and that she has difficulty trusting men because of her past experiences.

The doctor responded to me by saying, “What am I supposed to do, get a sex change and wear a dress because your daughter doesn't like males?”

I found that comment extremely inappropriate, dismissive, and unprofessional. I was trying to explain my daughter's emotional history and why she may have difficulty trusting certain people. Instead of responding with understanding or discussing how her concerns could be addressed therapeutically, I felt that my concerns were mocked.

People seek behavioral-health treatment because they are vulnerable and need professionals who will listen, show compassion, and take their experiences seriously. Families should be able to express legitimate concerns without being spoken to in a sarcastic or disrespectful manner.

I hope Rogers Behavioral Health takes this complaint seriously and reviews how this interaction was handled. My daughter deserves to feel safe, respected, and understood while receiving mental-health care.

Some of the classes were great! The art therapy was amazing. Some of the staff was great. Juliana deserves a raise!! That girl handled some very difficult people over the weekend. Some of the aids were so kind and fun and helpful. Definitely some not so nice or invested staff. They did great with my food allergies. Overall was a helpful stay for mental health but a few employees that may need to be let go.

My parents sent me here when I was 12. DONT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE. I was isolated, medicated like a guinea pig on meds like tranquilizers for schizophrenia which I don’t have and never had. They did not help us. I spent the entire time in an isolation room. They treated me like a risk. Wasn’t allowed to interact with the other kids or I would be talked to about why I was. Couldn’t share a room because i was a risk to others. I only had depression and was MISDIAGNOSED with Bipolar
But I was apparently. Risk to other kids. I never threatened to hurt anyone but myself ever and my depression only worsened in their care through isolation. I spent MONTHS in there with no fresh air or sunlight and no time outside. When I was finally released I got sick on the first sight of sunlight

This place did absolutely nothing for me. I sat in an empty community room alone for days on end. Asked the workers where is everyone and they said "probably sleeping".
After about 5 days I figured out they were in breakout sessions. None of the workers told me this whenI asked them.
They provided worksheets to fill out which had no relevance to my case.
The shower facilities were disgusting. Shared an awful room with cheap uncomfortable beds for $32,000. A shared phone for the entire floor with limited hours.
This place is obviously ONLY in it for the money. Poor accommodations and a program that did not provide me with anything to address my depression, anxiety and psychosis. I left there in exactly the same condition as when I arrived except for the money I lost due to their exorbitant fees with no room.
Don't waste your money.
