The nursing, therapy, and auxiliary staff were wonderful. Each member made an impact on my father's care! I definitely recommend Ridgewood to anyone looking for care for their loved one!

Ridgewood brought me and my family comfort in the time we spent there in my Mom’s last few days. I would have not wanted a better place to be. My Mom had a great experience there through out her therapy and loved the staff.

It’s a clean facility, nice facility, many caring workers...then there are the other workers, office personnel, administration AND keeping that 5 star rating!! BUT what about TRULY caring for the patients and families? What about the patients that are there for rehabilitation to go home? My mother came into Ridgewood from Madonna standing alone for 10 minutes in a sit to stand machine, now not even 10 seconds, going from a sitting position to standing and talking steps w/assistance, rails and padded flooring (for safety) now, basically nothing. Madonna was working 2 hours a day with different therapies, Ridgewood, not even 5 minutes. Yet, somehow mothers lack of progress is NOT any of their doing?? Coming from Madonna Hospital (as there were no beds open on 1st floor to continue rehabilitation) mother had come so far!! THEN Ridgewood putting in a claim to have Medicare coverage revoked for being non progressive in Rehabilitation (wonder why)?? The “meeting” was totally shocking to say the least!! How this all came about at Ridgewood?? First I was notified of a meeting one week in advance, which would take place the following Thursday, just an "update" on my mothers progress. My mother and I sitting at one end of a long table and a crew of Ridgewood employees at the other end, AS we were told I can TRY to appeal this decision BUT my mother must be out by Tuesday or it would be self pay at $241.00 a day, with NO therapy in this fee! WOW!! Sad! My mother had 6 surgeries in 21 days, 5 on her head and 1 in the stomach. My mother was life flighted for a subarachnoid aneurysm. After arriving at UNMC a drain tube was placed into the head to drain the blood which was causing pressure and damage, which required drilling into her skull. Next would be a Neurosurgeon team to fix the aneurysm. Then came the shunt, shunt revision. Shocking and sadly a subdural hemorrhage was later found. Again, drain tube, a metal plate on the left side of the head requiring the neurosurgeon to saw two 3" incisions into the skull to repair the bleed which had pushed the left side of the brain completely to the right side causing a major stroke. I’m still a bit speechless AND shocked by the comments which were made concerning my mother at this so called “update”meeting at RIDGEWOOD. Not even 3 months from the start of this health situation to kicking her out the door or pay $241.00 (plus extra charges) per day with NO therapy?! Is this the companionate care Ridgewood boasts about?! Personally I strongly suggest looking else where for your loved ones care. I did appeal and won! The very next day Ridgewood started a new claim stating the same issues. In the midst of trying to figure out how to move mother into a new facility that TRULY cared if she walked again (as her prognoses was 100% recovery over time) VERY STRESSFUL! My mother was so outgoing and independent before this, she deserved her life back pre aneurysm! Be very CAREFUL when our older treasures are on the mend … 23 days of poor care can destroy what was gained in approximately that same amount of time. I'm truly heartbroken at what ALL has been done to my mother. From the hospitals misdiagnosed, sending her to another hospital which did the same... 7 hrs later the re-rupture, 2 more hours to be resuscitated, stabilized for life flight etc. THEN the 55 minute life flight, a total of nine hours before she arrived at UNMC/Clarkson to begin the long road of surgeries and recover, then RIDGEWOOD!! There’s truly something wrong with the healthcare system in this country. I apologize to all of the caring dedicated workers at this facility... ALTHOUGH if there was a ZERO I would rate Ridgewood as such. Obviously this is a management issue (for the most part) OR is this how a Vetter's facility works. Thinking about the situation IF I would have brought mother home, cared for her myself, drove her to Madonna daily for physical therapy we would NOT be in this situation. The therapies mother was receiving at Madonna which Ridgewood said they could/would provide NEVER happened! Shame on them.

Both my mother and sister reside at Ridgewood. My mother is 96 and my sister is 73 years of age. They each have differing challenges mentally and physically. The level of care is excellent, specialized and individualized to each of their needs. The communication is excellent between the staff and myself which is comforting to me. The staff, from the highest position to the maintenance men, and everyone in between, are professional and caring. I'm blessed to have my mom and sister living there.
