A great friend of mine, aged 98, has had to finally move out of her home and in to Rest Haven. It is conveniently located near her family, which is good. The situation of its location, though, is unfortunate. Th facility is on long hallway in two directions. To the left is a corridor of short stay patients there for rehab. To the right is a corridor of longer stay guests for nursing home care. This corridor has an unfortunate smell of urine at all times I have visited. I understand the cause but not the reason why. Unless it is woefully understaffed, it should not. These guests/patients cannot escape it. The facility looks as if it has not been updated or freshened up inside for ages. Not someplace I would want a family member or great friend, or even a stranger, to have to live day in and day out. The staff have always seemed caring and competent. They have to work there day in and day out, as well. As a for-profit entity, it would be appreciated if some of those profits were able to be lavished on the humans who must be there every day of the year.

My mother was a resident at this facility for over 11 years. I can honestly say that they really care about their residents. The dietary people met with my mother in person to see what she likes and even added her favorite, oyster stew, to the menu several times. She loved going to bingo and enjoying other fun activities. If there was ever a concern or change in her health, the staff notified one of my mom's POA's. The business office was thorough and helpful when we needed to apply for medicaid. They have care plan meetings that a POA could attend to see how things are going or to ask any questions or address any concerns.

My grandmother was there for several years and I can not say enough about how good the care was. The recreation department went above and beyond to keep my very social grandmother active. In addition I appreciated the longevity in the staff. The majority of administration has been with the facility for over 10 years with several over 20 years. They were readily available to answer all my questions. Overall a 10/10!

I can only comment on the admissions staff. I managed to speak to someone once and she was combative and dismissive. She said she would look into something and call me back. Never did. I called again and left a message. Never heard from her. Called a third time and got a recording to call a different person. Left a message for that person; no call back.
