My husband was only there 5 days and it was a terrible experience. The very first day he had 2 bowel accidents because the nurses didn't come when he called, even though they were repeatedly told he needed quick attendance when he had to go do to the medication he was on which made his bowels move quickly. Within 3 days they tried sending him back to the hospital for confusion - one of the conditions he was admitted for - because he used the rolling table/tray to help get to the bathroom instead of his walker (again, because they didn't come when he called). On day 5 they finally got a reason to send him back to the hospital due to his sodium levels being too low. Upon arrival, the hospital discovered he had a foot infection, which Shannondell never caught even though he had edema in his ankles and feet and they should have been checked daily!!! When I went to pick up his belongings I was originally told they had "discarded" his medication (which we brought to the rehab). After my minor blow up, they finally found the meds and a very cocky nurse SLOWLY came out of the elevator, tossing the meds back and forth between her hands and she gave them to me and turned and walked away, no apology or anything. When I got home and checked to make sure all his belonging were there, I discovered a shirt missing and the laundry I had to pay extra for them to do, was rolled up in a bag, half inside out. He also had a large bag of candy that was given to him, all missing (except the bag, nice of them to return a paper bag). My husband hates hospitals and said he would rather be at the hospital then back at Shannondell. He said the people were the rudest he has met (and he's been in and out of the hospital for over 24 days now). I would not recommend Shannondell rehab to anybody, and will let anyone even thinking of going there to reconsider.
