the nursing care here is amazing! and the director of nursing really knows her stuff and thats what seniors need is good nurses who know how to care for complex health concerns. I highly suggest Redwood if you need intense nursing attention post hospital

I was in the care of Redwoods for a little over a month. The moment I came through the door, they all welcome me with open arms and made sure I was comfortable. The CNA’s were constantly checking to see if I needed anything. The nurses were really helpful and answered any questions I had regarding my medication, injury, etc to the best of the ability. Food was good enough to where I had requested for seconds many times during my stay. The patients there were all friendly. At the moment if anything were to happen to me again(I hope not) I would request to be in the care of Redwoods facility once again. Until next time my friends.

I wish I could give this zero stars.<br><br>My family member was admitted to this rehab facility following surgery, and our experience has raised some serious concerns about professionalism, patient respect, and the overall environment of care at this facility (and the workers)<br><br>A nurse administered melatonin and instructed her to go to sleep at around 8 pm without providing a medical explanation or clearly stating that the medication was optional. It was presented as something she was expected to take. When she exercised her right to refuse it, the nurse’s attitude noticeably changed and became dismissive and unprofessional.<br><br>What was especially concerning was the strong impression that the medication and early bedtime were being used for staff convenience rather than for patient care. It felt as though the goal was to have her sleep so that less care, interaction, or attention would be required, rather than addressing an actual medical need. (this is based on feelings, so allegedly)<br><br>In addition to this, the condition of the premises was unacceptable. Medical equipment was visibly discarded and stored outdoors on patios that are clearly visible from the street. This included old medical beds, wheelchairs, mats, wedge pads, and similar items that should be properly stored or removed. This environment is not conducive to healing and presents as a blight and eyesore, not only for patients but also for the surrounding community.<br><br>Patients have the right to informed consent, respectful treatment, and a clean, appropriate healing environment. Rehab patients are often vulnerable, and care should be centered on their needs and dignity, not on convenience or neglect. Families considering this facility or do not have a choice, but to choose this facility , should remain closely involved, ask to review medication orders, would be present often , communicate when it’s needed and advocate early if something does not feel right.<br><br>Thank you and YES we are in contact with the Director of this facility.

My parents had a very unsafe discharge after being at Redwood Healthcare in Oakland for 4.5 months. They lied to my parents about where they were going to be discharged and left them with no help, no home healthcare, on and on. In the beginning Bea the Marketing Agent lied to me about RHC- she told me the facility was being remolded , that it had central air conditioning, and lots of other things. Well this was not the case. Meanwhile my parents were discharged to an unlicensed home- basically as room renters with no help! They just wanted their room opened up so they could charge $50K a month for ReHab. Greed, Cruelty, No respect or dignity for my parents. Poor communication, no follow up, most of the staff is nice but very overwhelmed. Directors, Admin, SW very unprofessional. Do Not Let Your Loved ones be admitted here!
