My father was sent here following his hip surgery for care marketed as "professional" and "specialized." He was not able to be released until a doctor approved his hip healing. The first time I visited him I sat there for four hours while his call light was on, with no care or nurses visiting unless I personally walked about the extensive hallways looking for someone to help. My father entered the "rehabilitation" center with the ability to care for himself prior to his hip surgery. He left the facility entirely blind and unable to care for himself because his medicine was always administered late, if at all, therefore his maladies progressed and left him helpless. The food is horrid, everytime I'd visit I'd taste it just to see what was being served to my loved one, and it was nearly inedible. Tasteless, bland, and they would serve his food on the table and give no aid to him to help him eat. He spent most days alone, aside from physical therapy once a week which as we all know is not even enough therapy sessions to help promote his healing. To see my father's spirits crushed and his mood and demeanor so anxious, depressed and hopeless was intensely sad for me. The pad placed under his pelvic area was often soiled and if it wasn't "soiled" enough it would not be refreshed. There are many group activities, but how would he get there without assistance being offered? The place is cleanly but lonely and desolate, with the night staff being the worst of all. My father would spend every night entirely alone after his meds normally administered around at the late hour of 10-11 PM. I plead you, if you have a loved one, do not send them here. Inclusively, we have met other seniors who speak negatively of this place and had similar experiences like bed sores and neglect. This place would not be worth it even if I was paid to put a loved one in there.

This skilled nursing facility is beautiful on the outside and on the inside; clean, quiet, new. On the surface, anyone would be satisfied by these aesthetic qualities for their loved one. However, while many of the staff members are kind, compassionate, and genuinely attentive especially during daytime hours. However, it quickly becomes apparent that the facility is significantly understaffed (despite the director, Lilya indicated they are staffed to state standards), and that shortage directly impacts the quality of care, particularly for patients in rehabilitation. I trusted this facility to arrange my mother’s follow-up appointment for staple removal and evaluation and drainage of a known abscess after her surgery. However, nearly three weeks passed without any appointment being scheduled. Ultimately, I had to take it upon myself to book the appointment. During that time, I made multiple attempts to contact staff by phone and email and did not receive any response. When I began insisting on answers, a staff member was sent to my mother’s room to speak with me. She stated that she had left voicemails with the surgeon’s office to schedule the follow-up. After she left, I personally contacted the surgeon’s office and was able to secure an appointment for the very next day. When the surgeon evaluated my mother, he immediately directed us to go to the emergency room. Unfortunately, during this delay, my mother’s condition worsened significantly. She became very ill and had to be readmitted to the hospital due to an infection that may have been prevented with timely follow-up care. This situation is deeply concerning and reflects a serious lapse in care coordination and communication. There seems to be a clear imbalance in how staff time and attention are allocated. A disproportionate amount of resources appears to be directed toward long-term residents, often treated as “VIPs”, while rehabilitation patients, who typically have more intensive and immediate care needs, are left with less consistent support. This is especially concerning given that many rehab patients require high-level assistance, including the use of Hoyer lifts for safe transfers. These are not minor needs; they require adequate staffing, time, and coordination to be done safely and with dignity. The result is that staff assigned to the rehabilitation side are stretched incredibly thin. Despite their best efforts, they are often overworked to the point where care can feel rushed, not because of lack of dedication, but because there simply aren’t enough hands on deck. This creates an environment that feels counterintuitive to the purpose of rehabilitation, where patients should be receiving focused, attentive care to support recovery and progress. Overall, while the individual staff members deserve recognition for their effort and compassion, the facility’s staffing structure and prioritization raise serious concerns about patient care and safety in my opinion; particularly for those in rehabilitation who depend on consistent, hands-on assistance.

I absolutely love this place. It always smells good. The people are so nice that worked there. They took such good care of both my parents who are 94 years old. I cannot say enough good things about this place. My parents loved it. They thought they were In a hotel. Sunshine Stanley Hank B Traci Herman did such a great job. They do an incredible job of keeping the place clean. I went there every day to see my parents and it always looked great and they were always well taken care of. I highly recommend this place. Also all the people that work in the office for the intake and the front desk were all great.

What a beautiful facility! I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Tishema and learning more about the skilled nursing facility. As an inpatient rehab physician I find it important to know where my patients are going after a rehab stay. They are in good hands at Pruitt North Tampa. The staff is incredibly welcoming, the gym is top-notch, the rooms are private with easy to use functionalities. I feel good knowing I can send my patients from Encompass to Pruitt and continue to follow them at a facility that values continuity of care.

Tishema Slater, Senior Nurse Navigator, truly loves what she does and it shows in every interaction. Her energy, compassion, professionalism, and clinical knowledge are truly one of a kind. She goes above and beyond to ensure residents and families feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and staffed with knowledgeable, attentive professionals. It gives us great confidence referring our residents and families there because we know they will receive exceptional rehab and therapy services. You will feel safe, involved in the process, and reassured that the team truly wants what is best for each individual. It’s wonderful to collaborate with such dedicated professionals. Highly recommended!
