not "fancy" but it's the people! great staff, great nurses - i have never felt more "at peace" with having to rely on outside help for my mom, feels like they truly have your back and my mom is VERY happy there, LOVEs it
Update July 2018: several staff changes have resulted in a MUCH higher presence of “agency” (temporary) workers, which in my opinion is creating too much burden on the wonderful regular staffers – the agency workers often don’t know the patients and these are some very unique cases, each person has special handling needs. I am hoping that Pocopson will revert back to increased presence of permanent staff and decreasing the number of agency people. It is imperative for the health and safety of the patients, not to mention their psychological well-being, as interacting with the same staff who know them provides much more of a comfort zone for these delicate elderly. There is a very important additional concern of comfort and manageable working conditions for the permanent staff! With too many agency workers around, the burden on the full-time permanent staffers is far too high. Please, Pocopson, hire some more wonderful full-time employees! Your employees are caring and golden individuals who NEED and deserve the support. I know that many nursing homes operate this way, but my initial enthusiasm was based on the fact that Pocopson seemed to be “different“ from “every other nursing home“. I think as a county-run facility, standards and expectations should exceed corporate for-profit nursing homes.
UPDATE MARCH 2025
My mother passed away after about seven years at Pocopson. My overall impression is very favorable, extremely grateful for this home that became a final home to her and us. The regular staff is all amazing, always. Nursing became more consistent. I truly feel like Pocopson loved my mother, and she loved Pocopson. We also felt like family there. Management: Do everything possible to maintain and uphold excellent staff, they work so hard and are the life blood of this wonderful facility!

I was recently in Pocopson Home for Rehab due to a fall that broke my Pelvic bone. I was on 3rd Jones room 315, the Nurses, and CNA,staff were the best!! Everyone was so caring. The PT and OT staff were top notch with my rehabilitation sessions. I do recommend their Rehabilitation Dept. to anyone that needs it. God bless you all for the excellent care I received‼️

State run facility with serious issues. If you have any other means than to have your family member admitted in this place, do it.
