From Judith Frederick (aka ZebraZailya)
I recently spent 3+ weeks at Paradigm at Sweeny Skilled Nursing Facility, getting rehab following surgery for a severley broken ankle. I have to admit I was unprepared for the "nursing home" aspect of this "Skilled Nursing" environment and started out NOT being a happy camper. However, after about a week some outstanding staff helped change my perception of the experience.
* One of the first was a day-shift CNA named Johnathan. This young man, wise beyond his years, was so upbeat, warm, compassionate and playful! He put a positive spin on every one of my concerns, while simultaneously providing 100% validation for those concerns. He's truly a unique and gifted caregiver
* Another talented, warm and caring individual was Chef Mario, who worked closely with me to support my desire to be consistent in the dietary choices I make at home. He's clearly dedicated to serving the residents at Paradigm through creative food offerings and makes it his mission to have personal relationships with them, as well. Thank you for beautiful, nutritious meals, Mario!
* Thanks to the persistent coaxing by the Activity Director, Cruz Lewis, I finally gave in and joined his enthusiastic followers one day, for a game of Bingo, and was hooked! I began to check the daily activity calendar, circling a variety of activities I wanted to try. As I spent more time in the Dining Room/Game Room I got to know Cruz as a dedicated individual who brought MANY fun and enriching experiences to Paradigm residents on a very personal level. Thanks for the expanding my Paradigm world, Cruz:)
** There were others who contributed to my positive stay in Sweeny. I hope I'm able to write an additional review to share those.
Judith Frederick
