This place we called “home” especially the vulnerable elderly that needs not only care but love. We provide love and care and abide health and safety codes to help our love one feel comfortable living in this facility. We do reports or give updates to their love one what is goin on with them. We report to the people that is responsible of care and has the conscience to help not only in words but has the compassion to understand not to retaliate if it’s not good. We treat the residents fairly and extend our hearts to understand and care. This facility has elders that lived and living like about almost 20 years, 17 years, 9years and you counting. We continue helping to the people that lacks the financial assistance and made them Live free and eats free but in the end of the day you cannot please everybody. There are times that when you visit this facility, the staff are cleaning which is normal to facilities because we clean as needed. We updated photos also to check on. Have a bless one

The manager at this place is somewhat of a tyrant, emotionally volatile, and unprofessional. My sister and I have a friend of the family who is currently living there – a low-income, disabled senior. His only remaining blood relative is a sibling with dementia in South Dakota, so my sister and I are trying to help him out to the extent that we can. My sister and I both have disabilities ourselves and limited incomes. The manager at Opal Care repeatedly texted my sister pictures of incontinence episodes that our friend has had (e.g. poopy underwear and wet clothes, etc.). The manager also included our friend on those text chains with the pictures. When my sister told the manager that she felt the texts were inappropriate and were shaming our friend (who has no control over his incontinence), this was her exact text reply: “No you should know what’s going on with him since the first day of him here you were there for him but just suddenly you are hands up now. This is not humiliating but just the truth so we will know who really cares for him.” My sister and I have spent hundreds of dollars of our own money on clothes and other items for our friend at the request of the manager who told us he needed these items. So, accusing us of being “hands up” is insulting. I also spent a day taking Ubers to get my friends’ medication refilled and delivered when the manager at Opal told me that no one at Opal Care could do it. When I told the manager that I have no car, have a disability, and also work full time so trying to do these kinds of errands is a hardship for me, her only response was to tell me to rent a car for the entire time my friend is staying at Opal. She completely lacks compassion. Recently, three rather pricey items of my friend’s went missing from his room: his noise cancelling headphones, his replacement IPhone, and his ATM/Credit Card to his only bank account where his Social Security is deposited. The first time I reached out to the manager about his missing headphones, her only response was “he needs to look in his room.” My friend had looked several times. After the other items went missing, I contacted the manager again, told her about the missing items, asked her to investigate (as required by the Health and Safety Code) and to let me know if they could not be found, in which case we would need to file a police report. All her responses were defensive and unprofessional. First, she said the items weren’t in her inventory so she couldn’t verify that he had ever really had them. I had texted her previously about the headphones and the IPhone (which were delivered by courier to the site). She had never mentioned inventory to me before this. Nor had she mentioned inventory when she asked my sister and I to buy him clothes and undergarments (which we did). Next, she implied that because my friend was placed at Opal Care Home temporarily by Kaiser and isn’t a long-term resident, he is somehow not entitled to have his belongings safeguarded. When I told her that he was a legal tenant, that she should check with Opal’s attorney about his rights, and let her know that I had been a practicing attorney, she accused me of threatening her. She then went to my friend and told him that I was accusing her of stealing his stuff, which was a complete lie (not the first one she has told). Finally, she said that I would have to come to Opal and personally sign for every item that my friend received. I reminded her that I'm not his conservator, guardian or even a family member. I don't have a car and I have no formal relationship with Opal Care. I told her that from now on I would notify her of any new items that I knew my friend would be receiving and she could have him sign for them since the items would belong to my friend and be in his possession (not mine). Her response was to say that since I'm not his conservator or guardian, she would not communicate with me at all any more about my friend.

This place is a DUMP!!! If you are considering placing a loved one here, run for the hills and don't look back. We considered this place sight unseen. Once we arrived to do a walk through we were appalled at the least at what we saw. As we walked in they were scrubbing and cleaning as you can see from the pics.I'm surprised this place hasn't been shut down. So sad for the people living there. They look very unhappy.
