If I could, I would give this place negative stars. This facility and practices are HORRIFYING. First off, our family was never contacted by the facility when our loved one was transferred there. After 4 hours of sitting with my family member I had to ask the front desk what the plan was and how does this work, and at first they didn’t even know who my family member was because she hadn’t been updated in their system yet. She was incontinent and unable to use the bathroom on her own, the first time she was changed was 12 hours after arriving at this facility and she sat in her own feces for at least 6 hours. The patients here are left in their beds for hours and hours without someone to check on them. They press the call button and sometimes help doesn’t come, when it does come it’s never quickly. Resident yell for help from their room and are ignored. The residents there a scared. If they can’t get themselves to the dining hall they’ll have to wait for hours to receive their meals and their food is left on their bedside trays for them to deal with, even those who can’t sit up or feed themselves on their own. They’re grossly understaffed and the aides & nurses have too many people to care for, I felt bad for them because there are kind people there. It smells like old, uncleaned urine because it’s a filthy facility and residents are left in their own filth for long periods of time and unshowered for days on end. My family member was sent from this facility to the ER and said to me “I broke out of there and I’m never going back.” She was glad to be in the ER because she didn’t feel safe in that place, but it took over 12 hours for the on-call doctor to get back to the facility and make a decision to send her to the hospital where we found she was bleeding internally. Prior to being hospitalized I had to track someone down in the Olympic View building to ask them to take my family members vitals because she was clearly unwell, and the results were clinically low blood pressure and low oxygen. The on-call doctor didn’t take any action for 12 hours! Since then she has been moved to a facility in Sequim which is, ironically, owned and operated by the same company as Olympic View, Kalesta Helathcare Group. However, this other facility is like a five star resort compared to the house of horrors that is Olympic View.

My mom was transferred there from the Port Angeles hospital since she was no longer acute. Her insurance would not pay, since Olympic Medical Center had kept my mom in the ER during the 3 days she was there due to no rooms available. Social services at the hospital called me and gave me an appointment date and time to speak with the nursing home social services. My mom's dinner tray would sit for hours. Im not sure that she ever got a shower. Any time I called and asked if they could have my mom call me, it NEVER happened. They were in regular communication with my mom's neighbor during this time, but never once communicating anything to me. I am her only child. The same neighbor was wanting to buy my mom's house for her son during my mom's stay at this nursing home. On the day of the appointment with social services, the neighbor (also happens to be a nurse) texted me to say the appointment was at noon, rather the 11:00 time I was initially told. I arrived at about 11:30 to see my mom and 2 women in social services. They said the meeting was over. I asked them to recap. They said she would be staying there. I asked about whether insurance was covering it. I was told no. She then leaned down and had her face very close to my mom's and while nodding her head she said to my mom, "But you're going to be selling your house...right?" The "meeting" ended and I was told to contact her neighbor, as she had been there earlier. I was feeling beyond uncomfortable with what I was hearing. Every day, my mom would walk to social services and tell them she wanted to go home. They would tell her it was best that she stay. The evening after Christmas was the final straw. Around midnight I got a call from an ER nurse at the hospital. My mom had complained to nursing home staff that she had chest pain. They called for an ambulance. BUT THEY NEVER CALLED ME. The ER nurse called me and said she was on an iv due to slight dehydration. He called back a couple hours later to say she was being released and I could come get her. And I did. I brought her to my home. Never returned her to the nursing home. The next day, I figured they would figure out that she hadn't returned and start making calls. They called the sheriff's dept who paid us a visit to ask that my mom call the nursing home. I never took her back there. I want to add that I have durable power of attorney. They had no right even discussing matters with mom's neighbor. But she is the only one they spoke to, in fact they called her to inform they had called an ambulance for my mom on the day after Xmas. That, to me, is appalling. My mom has been with me in my home since that occurrence.

The staff were wonderful, and caring, when I was there last July through October. Most of the people that were working there, have left. They were making improvements then to the facility. But since I left they have new management. Heard from some of my friends stay there, it wasn't good.

DO NOT send your loved ones here. The set up is completely substandard and NOT safe. My Mom was left in her bedroom with no assessment, no check that she was safely seated and situated. The nurse never did come in to see her. The food was not suitable at all for an elderly person. The place smelled of urine. The furniture doesn't work properly and there is not enough space in the patient rooms for the occupants to ambulate safely without tripping over furniture or each other (they're double-occupancy rooms). The beds don't have safety rails. The staff are nice, but seem under-qualified. This establishment should not be allowed to remain in business as it is.

Ever since the new administration took over, the difference has been remarkable! The environment is now exceptionally clean, fresh, and well-organized. The staff are more welcoming, always wearing warm smiles that reflect genuine care. You can truly feel the nurturing spirit in the air — they prioritize both residents’ and staff wellbeing, creating a peaceful and positive atmosphere for everyone. Kudos to the management for raising the standard and restoring excellence. 👏❤️
