About Olive Glen Foundation

Olive Glen

Olive Glen is a non-profit, residential Christian Science Nursing Facility in Sacramento California. Care has been provided in this home-like atmosphere since 1987. It is located on two acres of beautifully landscaped property with walkways and patios throughout the fenced grounds.

A full range of care options is provided at our facility, including independent living, assisted living, and skilled Christian Science nursing care. Delicious communal meals in lovely dining areas are included. When needed meals are provided in individual resident’s rooms. A loving staff of Christian Science nurses is on hand 24/7 to support individual’s needs. The atmosphere is peaceful and supportive of healing and spiritual growth. The Olive Glen bus takes residents to church and on a variety of social outings. With our beautiful weather much of the year, residents can enjoy sitting and walking outdoors among well maintained rose gardens, fountains, citrus trees, and lovely flowerbeds.

History

Olive Glen Foundation was formed in 1987 when the North Valley Foundation, (providing independent living) and Olive Glen, (providing Christian Science nursing) merged. Church members from the Sacramento Valley made contributions and donated items to the Thrift and Gift Shoppe. With these funds, two residences were purchased and joined together forming the two-acre non profit residential Christian Science nursing facility.

After several years of reorganizing the staffing and building usage, the decision was made to build four additional apartments and for Olive Glen to provide three levels of care - the Terrace — independent living; the Courtyard — assisted living, and Hilltop — skilled Christian Science nursing. Each building accommodates six individuals. Our Christian Science nurses provide home care on their time off.

We loan equipment to the Christian Science community. We are an accredited member of The Commission with other Christian Science nursing facilities. Our two major community events are our "Tea" (usually in March) and our Annual Meeting and picnic (in September). Olive Glen is governed by a volunteer board.

Assisted Living

There are six rooms available in Courtyard for those in need of supported care—help with dressing, bathing, etc. Meals are communal, or can be taken in one’s room when needed. There are activities scheduled, both in-house and off campus for all interested in participating. Residents enjoy the atmosphere of uplifted thought, the loving support of Christian Science nurses & staff, and the companionship of others who are relying on Christian Science for healing and spiritual growth. Friends and relatives of residents are welcome to visit and to schedule outings like shopping, meals out, or anything else the person would enjoy. Twenty-four hour in-room audio is available in all rooms, with access to the weekly Bible Lesson, hymns and the periodical articles read aloud.
