The Oaks was a wonderful place for my mother in law to recuperate from her surgery. The staff is AMAZING! Every single person we came in contact with was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, attentive to my mother in law’s needs and had a great attitude, from the administrator, nurses, physical therapists to the wonderful staff that helped her around and brought her her meals. So many smiling faces every time you walk down the hall. I would highly recommend The Oaks Nursing Home.

I used to evaluate NHs, so I always look at them with a critical eye. Public and common areas are clean. Hallways are very wide, and have secure support rails on both sides. Well lit and decorated. The rooms I could see where personalized, attractive, and clean. Patients that I saw were clean, and comfortably clothed. All clothing was patient appropriate in size and fit. Temperature was comfortable. Staff appeared adequate in number, were pleasant, and caring. Morale appeared good.

My mother spent the last 2 years at the Oaks Nursing Home. I appreciate all the care she received. The business staff handled her financial accounts from long term health insurance to medical bills following through with each item. They filed and refiled when necessary each statement so I never had to worry about her finances. The valuable information they provide is from decades of the same family running this nursing home . They are extremely invested! The nursing team worked with her rehab 2 years ago when mother was not easy to deal with and she had a full recovery from her hip and femur surgery. The hospital doctor in Birmingham explained to her family 2 years ago she probably had less than 6 months to live after her surgery May 2017. The dining staff worked with my mother to ensure she would have good nutritional meals. Her caregivers worked diligently to provide her with the best care. My mother decided she wanted to be closer to her family in Birmingham so we relocated her last week. We know she will miss all her friends and family in Georgia. We pray The Oaks will continue to have great success and the surrounding communities will support the older population who find themselves living in nursing homes. Thanks to all the staff who worked with my mother. To the state of Georgia legislatures PLEASE make wise laws that will help the residents confined to nursing home. Please to not pass laws that will require finger printing for visitors. These older residents need all the visitors that will take time to go to a nursing home. Look at programs to encourage the community to become more invested in these homes- easy simple programs---not time consuming expensive programs .
