Ideally located near Northgate Shopping Center, you have access to shops, restaurants and many other activities. Your apartment is spacious and private with easy accessibility.

Our community-based housing and supportive services are meant for you to enjoy every day. With activities like brain fitness, exercise classes, educational events and bus trips, you’re sure to meet new friends and keep active. We also have spaces a quiet moment like reading a good book in our library or visiting with friends in our community spaces.

Our staff is committed to providing great service. Many members of our team have worked at Northaven for more than 10 years. They enjoy what they do and provide continuity of care for all of our residents. As one of our team members said, “We come to work every day in our residents’ home. Our community is primarily made up of seniors of modest means. We are unpretentious, caring and full of life. Our residents participate in an array of activities and participate in the world around them through drives for the local foodbank, collecting supplies for school children and knitting caps and more for programs that distribute clothing in the neighborhood.

Independent Living

Our independent living building features 194 affordable studio, deluxe studio and one-bedroom apartments.

For almost half a century, Northaven Senior Living has provided affordable housing — primarily to seniors of low and modest incomes — and built a tradition of providing quality, progressive living.

Our Independent Living building has 198 high-quality studio, deluxe studio and one-bedroom apartments, designed with you in mind.

As a Northaven resident, you will have the comfort of knowing there is 24-hour security and an emergency call system. Every apartment features a private bath and individual kitchen, and all homes have wi-fi service that residents can access for a fee.

Don't like cleaning? All residents receive one hour of housekeeping services each month provided by our own staff, and you can purchase additional time as needed.

Don’t feel like cooking? You can enjoy dining with other residents or hosting your family and friends in our full-service dining room offering breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday.

Do you have a medical appointment? Our medical transportation service will take you there for a nominal fee.

Ready for adventure? Northaven is located in a dense and rapidly growing urban village. While we do not offer resident parking, we are located on several bus lines, and the Northgate Light Rail station will open in spring 2021. You’ll have easy access to almost anywhere in the city, especially with the use of taxis and ride-hailing services. We also provide rides at a small fee to doctor appointments. You can take trips on our Northaven bus to explore coffee shops, go to monthly lunches in the city, see a play or go shopping. The Northaven bus makes several trips a week to neighborhood grocery stores.

Spend your day anyway you please. Jump on the Internet in the computer center, work out in the gym, garden in one of the best green spaces in the Northgate area or gather your family in our community room.

You also can browse our library, read the morning paper with a cup of coffee, play cards with friends, create new art, exercise, work in the garden, get a pedicure, visit the acupuncturist, see a dentist…

When you need more help with daily activities, Northaven Assisted Living can provide the support you need.

When you need more help with daily activities, Northaven Assisted Living can be home for you. We are open to seniors of all income levels, but we have a long and proud tradition of accepting low-income, Medicaid-dependent elders.

Northaven is dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of our residents. We provide assistance with

•    basic personal care
•    medication management
•    bathing
•    dressing
•    cueing for memory support
•    care management/transition support
•    and much more.

Each studio has a full private bath and a refrigerator. Every room also has cable TV, Wi-Fi and phone connections.

Highly trained and caring staff

Northaven has a reputation for high quality care and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Most of our staff have worked here for many years, and they build strong and lasting relationships with our residents and their families who come to rely on the stability and continuity of our staff.

There is a strong sense of community among our residents as well. When a resident is sick or recovering from a hospital stay or living through the final stages of hospice care, families are welcome to stay with their loved one and will find a very supportive environment from our staff.

Many visitors and residents comment on the special kind of care Northaven offers. Northaven feels like home.

Life Enrichment

Begin the day with a fun and lively exercise session. Afternoon activities can include live music, painting, a horse race, a visit from bunnies, games, crafts, computer bowling, nature presentation, scenic ride, shopping trip, or a birthday/holiday celebration.

After dinner, residents might play scrabble, enjoy a craft project with one of our amazing volunteers, or socialize with their neighbors over a puzzle or game.

Weekends might include book reading and songs with kids, craft projects, or even some spring planting. Every day is different!

Dining services

Northaven Assisted Living provides three meals a day in our dining room. Coffee, tea, fresh fruit, and snacks are available all day long. Residents are encouraged to have their meals in our dining room and socialize with other residents. You may request, however, to have a meal brought to your apartment. Assisted Living residents may also walk next door to the Independent Living dining room for meals.
