About North Georgia Home Health Care, an Amedisys Company

North Georgia Home Health Care, an Amedisys Company, provides skilled nursing, therapy and other home health services in Dalton, Georgia. The agency serves patients recovering from surgery or illness, managing chronic health conditions, or living with serious illness at home. A team of trained professionals—including nurses, home health aides, social workers, physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists—works collaboratively with patients, families and physicians to develop individualized plans of care.

Nursing care includes pain management, monitoring, wound care and patient education. Physical therapists help patients build strength, balance and endurance to reduce fall risk and hospitalization. Occupational therapists assist with daily activities like eating, bathing and household tasks, and recommend home modifications for safety. Speech therapists address communication and swallowing difficulties. Home health aides provide personal care support, and medical social workers coordinate care and connect patients with community resources.

The agency offers specialized programs for specific conditions. Heart failure programs aim to reduce symptoms and keep patients home rather than in hospitals. COPD programs provide education, support and tools for symptom management. A diabetes program combines skilled nursing, therapy and aide services. Fall prevention programs assess risk factors and focus on strength and safety in the home environment.

Services are typically initiated with a phone call from a nurse or therapist to schedule the first visit, which usually occurs within 24 hours for patients transitioning from hospitals or nursing facilities. An initial assessment identifies areas where patients may benefit from education and tools. The frequency and type of visits are based on each patient's individual plan of care, adjusted as needed by the physician. Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance plans typically cover home health care for eligible patients.
